Nové Město na Moravě
There were several periods of increases and falls in town´s history. Most important owners of Nové Město became Lipá Parentage, Pernstein Family, Dietrichsteins, Kratzers and Endowed Institute of Noble-Women „School of Virgin Mary“ in Brno. Within a rule of Frank Dietrichstein, Nové Město was declared as a town in 1635.
Nové Město na Moravě is interesting thanks to its many historic and cultural monuments. Preserved historical nucleus is declared as a town´s monumental zone. The oldest monument is a catholic church of St. Kunhuta on Vratislav square. After issue of so called Tolerant Patent in 1781, there was built an evangelical house of prayer, situated on today´s Komenský square. A parsonage was constructed here in its neighbourhood in 1823. Later, a bust of J.A.Komenský was put later on place of demolished chapel.
A small Renaissance castle was built within Pernstein rule in Nové Město. After 1588 it was arranged so, in order to serve as a permanent seat. Today´s castle-form comes of 1874, arranged in Neo-Renaissance style. You find here Horácká Gallery. To the other sightseeings belongs former Renaissance Town Hall of 16th century and a school building of beginning of 17th century.
Nové Město na Moravě is an important cultural, ski, economical as well as tourist centre of Bohemian-Moravian Highland. The town is placed over a confluence of small rivers of Bobrůvka and Bezděčka, Through the town leads a souther border of Preserved Nature Area Žďárské Hills. The town is ideal starting point for many tourist paths leading to most interesting parts of Žďárské Hills.
