CZ, Eagle Mountains – A Trip from Deštná to Velká Deštná – VIDEO

The Eagle Mountains are undoubtedly one of the most beautiful areas in the Czech Republic. Let's now hike together from the tourist center Deštné in the Eagle Mountains to their highest mountain.

Personally, I prefer the Eagle Mountains in the fall. The mixed and deciduous forests there will be colored with thousands of shades of orange, yellow, red and gold, fog will fall in the valleys in the morning and the coming winter will occasionally log on the peaks with snow showers. Romantic villages will get an even more romantic atmosphere, the biggest summer rush of tourists is gone and skiers have not yet arrived. But you can come here at any time, every season has something in it.

We set off to the village of Deštné in the Orlické Mountains, from where we set out on a hike to Velká Deštná, the highest mountain in the mountains. With an altitude of 1116 meters above sea level, it is not even among our top ten, and the journey itself is not very difficult. All the more you can enjoy the beauty of the local nature, mountain streams and views that will gradually open up to you.

For the ascent, I chose the path along the red sign around the lonely church of St. Matouše and above the ski slopes on Studený vrch. In Luisa's valley, I turned onto a green sign, which is already rising directly to the top.

There is a 19-meter lookout tower on Velká Deštná, from which a view of the distant surroundings opens up in nice weather. Among other things, Králický Sněžník, the Polish Table Mountains and the Rychnov region. 

For the way back, I used a red ridge to the Šerlich saddle and a yellow sign from it to the picturesque Bělá river and to the village of Deštné. If time allows, I will probably continue along the red road to the border peak of Šerlich and down it along a beautiful path along the green road.

I highly recommend a trip to the Eagle Mountains at any time of the year.
