Darkov Spa is placed in quiet surroundings of spa park in north-east part of Czech Republic, at slopes of Beskydy Mountains, Moravia-Silesia Region, in an altitude of 234 metres above sea level. The spa consists of two treatment equipments: Sanatorium Darkov in Karviná-Darkov and Rehabilitation Sanatorium in Karviná-Hranice. First balneology saison in Darkov was started in 1867. As a consequence of mining activity, and possible danger of doom of spa, there was agreed to construction of new objects in the town of Karviná (where, within 1976-1989, Rehabilitation Sanatorium was founded). Nature treatment source of spa is unique, strongly mineralized iodine-bromide water known as „solanka“ (salted water) or „black gold“, This water is drawn from depth of 1100 metres below the surface. After several days of maturity in reservoirs, the water is warmed up to the temperature of 36° C and brought to baths. It serves to treatment procedures in a form of bath and basin baths and inhalations. Darkov Spa is specialized for treatment of moving apparatus, rehabilitation after serious orthopedical opeartions, diseases of circulating apparatus and neurological troubles. This popular spa offers, except of healing and relax, visit of Beskydy Mountains and many leasure time activities.
