REGION OF PILSEN

You find this region on South-west of the country. There are missing the towns of medium greatness here, therefore the natural centre of all concentration in the region there is the town of Pilsen, well-known throughout the world with its  production of beer.

Don’t be confused. Winter is the best season to watch underwater life. Pikes, pikeperches, crucians, and carps swim in clear water around you. A quarry in Mrakov, Domazlice region, is a great place for this activity.

Rokycany is located about 17 kilometers of Plzen. It is on the main train track to Prague, and also near the D5 freeway. Many tourists only ride through the town. Nevertheless, Rokycany is worth paying a visit and it is not only for its picturesque town center, but nature and sights around as well.

Mere 4 km west from Domazlice, there is the birth place of farmer Jan Sladky known as Kozina who fought for the rights of the Chods. He was also a character in A. Jirasek’s epic Psohlavci. In the town of Ujezd, you can see Kozina’s birth house, his memorial on Hradek Hill, and a nature trail with 15 stops.

A very pleasant welcoming we have got at City Hall, in the same pleasant city of Klatovy. Deputy Mayor and Chairman of the civic association of Klatovy Catacombs Václav Chroust stopped his work for a while and showed us a local town hall, cool mystical underground, but mainly a rich history of the city.
