REGION OF PILSEN

You find this region on South-west of the country. There are missing the towns of medium greatness here, therefore the natural centre of all concentration in the region there is the town of Pilsen, well-known throughout the world with its  production of beer.

In the restaurant we were stopped by youngster who asked as in German if we know by chance know the exchange rate Czech crown against the euro. On the square in Domažlice spoke German and naturally as if Hitler had won the war and finally took the whole Czech territory.

Plasy

In district of Pilsen-north, in a distance of 21 kms of Pilsen. There is situated the community of Plasy. The town was successively founded near to Cisterciac monastery, established with a document of 1144. signed by Prince Vladislav II. The monastery was created on place of Prince courtyard, it was changed under the administration of Religious Fund after its closing.

Plzeň - Pilsen

The town of Pilsen is situated in the region of the same name. It was established in 1295, in conformity with the order of Bohemain King Wenceslas II. It is placed on confluence of rivers of Radbuza, Mže, Úhlava and Úslava. Since its foundation, the town is very important trade centre, as it was situated along frequented way crossings from Nurenberg to Regensburg.

Tachov

The town of Tachov – with more than 12000 inhabitants – is situated in Region of Pilsen. It is formed with quarter part of Tachov and village parts of Biletín, Mýto, Oldřichov, Světce, Vítkov, Malý and Velký Rapotín. Originally Slave piece of ground was placed on so called „Nurenberg Path“, which connected Bohemia with Bavaria.

Blovice

The town of Blovice is situated 20 kms approx. in the south-eastern direction of Pilsen, the Úslava river flows through. In the outskirts of the town there were the golden and iron ore mines in the past. In Blovice you find not only tourist routes but also the ways for cyclists. Horažďovice

The town of Horažďovice is situated between Strakonice and Klatovy in an altitude of 427 m, 15 kms distant in northeastern direction of Sušice. The town flows the river of Otava. Historical centre was declared as town´s monumental zone.

Domažlice

The town of Domažlice is distant approx. 53 kms in south-west direction of Pilsen, situated not far from the German border. Its German name is Taus. Through the town flows the river Zubřina. The city centre was declared as the town preserved reservation. Domažlice is situated in an altitude of 428 m.

Chodová Planá

A family brewery Chodovar in Chodová Planá was constructed over original ancient cellars, which were hacked to granit massif. The oldest written document about local brewery is dated to 1573, when the brewery was in possession of Noble parentage of Šliks.
