REGION OF SOUTH BOHEMIA
As to the greatness, it is the second bigger region of the country. It is a region of forests, meadows, ponds, peatbogs, mountaneous range of Šumava (Bohemian Forest) and Novohradské hory (Novohradské Mountains) The biggest protected area is those of Šumava National Park.

You can walk throughout Šumava on foon, by cycle or by steam railway. In winter then the lovers of skiing and confessors of white trace can use of snowed table-lands and centres of winter sports.
Quite important reservation there is the Třeboň area, not only for its ponds, but also for the important birds reservation.
Who intends to see and admire the historical monuments, he finds which heritage was left by nobile families and how many artists and handicraftsmen lived and created in the region.
There are many cultural-historic monuments, such as ancient ruins, strongholds, Renaissance castles, Gothic churches, picturesque towns and villages. This historical wealth stipulates the attractivity of travel business. The frontier area of the region is the advantage now as it brings the possibility of cooperation with neighbour countries. The region has a strategic position on the traffic route North-South and there are passing through important international roads.
However, the highway connection is missing. This could solve the construction of highway DE3 and two high-speed roads.
