CZ, Malý Chlum – The Largest Observation Tower in the Boskovicko Region
Published: 6.6.2019
Don't know where to spend a beautiful sunny day? What would you say to the observation tower associated with a beautiful walk or a cycling trip? I know exactly one such lookout.

The Malý Chlum lookout tower is located on the hill of the same name in the village of Krhov, which is located in the Blansko district north of Brno.

The history of Little Chlum dates back to the times of the First Republic. However, from the summer months of 2005, there is a beautiful wooden building of carpenter Jan Opatřila, from which there is a wonderful view of the entire surrounding area - the Boskovice castle, Lysice, Letovice, Blansko or Montenegro. Under favorable conditions you can also see the Jeseníky mountain range and Praděd or Králický Sněžník.

As already mentioned, the observation tower is all wooden. It boasts two observation platforms, with a height of 7 meters. The disadvantage (rather for older years) of this observation tower is the climb to both platforms. There are wooden ladders only.

The observation tower, which you can visit free of charge, is open all year round. However, there are some limitations (number of people on platforms, entry at your own risk, no entry with open fire, under the influence of alcohol, and so on). In close proximity to the lookout tower there is a sitting and a fireplace waiting for you to roast some sausages.

The path to Malý Chlum is a few kilometers from the village of Obora. From here it is no longer possible to continue by car. But the whole trail is taught to both young and old - there are several stops with educational panels and benches for a pleasant rest or a small snack. The paths through the forest are sometimes tricky, but there is a pointer at each crossroads. And even if you chose the second way, you will always reach your destination. You will find many abbreviations or "it is still, but worse way".

The way to the observation tower is therefore suitable for pedestrians as well as for cyclists, who can keep the yellow signs of the 5201 cycling route all the way (from the last houses of Obora village and at the same time from the first educational panel). is definitely worthwhile, it is not bad to ride a bike from nearby Lysice or Boskovice. It will guarantee you a beautiful day trip, where you can also visit the famous Great Chlum, which is a wooded hill with no view. However, there is a sculpture of Jan Hus, Jan Žižka of Trocnov and Prokop Holý carved on the rock.

CZ: Brno – The Most Entertaining City in Czechia When You Know Where to Go... I – VIDEO
Published: 7.6.2016
When I have learned recently that Lonely Planet declared Brno the least interesting city in the Czech Republic I couldn’t understand. Then I realized that it was good they said it after all. Had crowds of tourists been going there every day as they go to Prague it would soon loose its magic. Brno is a city of universities, fun, culture and many small, lovely places. The turning clock in the shape of a male genitalia from which a small glass ball falls out every hour. Smoking road signs are really to be found only here… New York Times was much more smarter. They put Brno on the list of 52 places where to go in 2016!

CZ: South Moravia – The Land of the Sun, Wine, and Hospitality
Published: 9.6.2016
When the Creator was giving he was particularly generous to the south Moravians. Thus, they could call their land the “land of wine.” He gave them the most sun in the Czech lands as well as warm climate doing good to grapes but bolstering recreational activities as well – for instance at Vranovska dam, Brnenska dam or on the lakes near Palava. So what waits here for visitors? Great Moravian landmarks, castles, chateaus, sacral buildings, great works of engineering, border fortresses, and beautiful places in nature. There is no coincidence in south Moravia being the second most interesting locality for tourists right next to Prague.
