CZ, South Moravia: By Bika to Moravian Tuscany
Published: 2.8.2023
The term Moravian Tuscany has only appeared in the last few years. This undulating part of South Moravia with its colorful fields and vineyards really resembles the famous region of Italy. No wonder it is very popular among photographers from all over the world who come here to create their best images. And not just among photographers.

We planned today's bike trip from the picturesque village of Kobylí, through neighboring Terezín, Hovorany to Šardice. There is a great path between the vineyards between Terezín and Hovorany. In Šardice, after fifteen kilometers, we stop at a truly original barrel-shaped lookout tower.

The view of the keg fits beautifully into the local landscape, it was built here in 2017. It is in this first section of the route that it is possible to see the rolling fields of all possible colors so reminiscent of Tuscany. In addition, we can admire both new and very old vineyards or stop for a glass of delicious juice in one of the open wine cellars. A relatively new "Mutěnická" cycle path leads from Šardice to Mutěnice. It is also suitable for skaters. The road is pleasant, flat and you can breathe a pleasant coolness from the floodplain forests in the steamy heat.

A rarity of Mutěnice are those cellar streets - Mutěnské Búdy, in which you can easily get lost. In total, there are about five hundred wine cellars in this locality. A typical element of most Mutěn cellars is the "žudro" entrance façade and traditional painting with Slovácko ornaments or scratched sgraffito. From Mutěnice we will be moving to Čejkovice and Vrbice back to Kobylí. The last section between the vineyards near Čejkovice and Vrbice has an incredibly romantic atmosphere. It is as if we are not in Italy, not in southern Moravia, but right in the heart of France's vineyards. Probably everyone has Čejkovice connected with the Templars and the Templar cellars. In addition to these, the village boasts a small castle, which attracts visitors, or a house where T. G. Masaryk lived.

We drove a total of 50 km today. The great advantage of this region is the possibility to compose the route according to your time and strength. The routes lead between forests, by road, new cycle paths, but also only by paved roads and somewhere between vineyards. Let yourself be seduced and set off today. In Moravia, cycling conditions are ideal for all ages.
