CZ, Visiting Lookout Towers in Bohemia and Moravia I
Published: 1.7.2021
The situation at the moment is such that you can also travel abroad, but many people have decided to stay in the Czech Republic in the summer to support local entrepreneurs. And it's not a bad idea at all. Here are some tips on where to go.
We will first head to South Moravia. In recent years, several remarkable lookout towers have sprung up here. The Slunečná lookout tower in Velké Pavlovice has been surrounded by vineyards since 2009. If you want to enjoy the view of the countryside, you have to climb 75 steps. It is 18.6 m high. You can refresh yourself in the kiosk and not forget about souvenirs. In the summer months, you can relax here in the shade. In winter, the lookout tower is not open.
The Kobylí vrch lookout tower or Stezka nad vinohrady trail, which is located about 7.5 km from Slunečná, at the highest point of the village of Kobylí, was established in 2018. You park under the hill and then just go up a good hill. The reward for you is building a unique spiral look. It is the only barrier-free lookout tower in the Czech Republic. From here you can admire not only the adjacent vineyards, but also Pálava, in good weather even the peaks of the Alps. And to make the hike even better, on the wooden boards you will walk on, there are arrows with interesting places and information about the village Kobylí.
When we move to Central Bohemia, the queen of the Bohemian Central Mountains - Milešovka (837 m above sea level) rises there. If you want to get to the lookout tower, you have to climb the hill again. There are four hiking trails, so it only depends on your condition, which you choose.
Another lookout tower that we will explore is Vrátenská mountain. You can find Vrátenská mountain about 6 km from Mšen at an altitude of 598 m above sea level. The lookout tower itself was not very attractive for us, but as far as the view is concerned, it is unforgettable. You can admire the views in all directions of the Kokořín region - through Trosky to Bezděz. The picturesque Nosálova valley is another reason to go for a walk or a bike.

When the Creator was giving he was particularly generous to the south Moravians. Thus, they could call their land the “land of wine.” He gave them the most sun in the Czech lands as well as warm climate doing good to grapes but bolstering recreational activities as well – for instance at Vranovska dam, Brnenska dam or on the lakes near Palava. So what waits here for visitors? Great Moravian landmarks, castles, chateaus, sacral buildings, great works of engineering, border fortresses, and beautiful places in nature.
