Region of Trenčín - Slovakia

Trenčín Region is situated on west part of Slovakia. It borders with Czech Republic, in south with Trnava and Nitra Regions, on south-east with Banská Bystrica Region, and finally, in east with Žilina Region.

At the end of May me and my husband went on an interesting trip alongside main ridge of Javorníky mountains. Our journey began in the Mountain Hotel Portáš and continued to the highest mountain of Velký Javorník mountain range. Come with us and admire the beauties of nature's spring.

You wouldn't miss the main landmark of the Region of Trencim. Until recently it guardedtrade routes that connected Mediterranean region with the Baltic Sea and northern Europe. The castle was founded in the second century AD . Since its beginnings it was a frontier castle that guarded Carpathian valleys, later it expanded and was the central place in the region. Today, there are held exhibitions in castle's old interiors. You may experience extraordinary view from the highest tower. From there you may see not only the town but local landscape as well. Bosacke Valley immersed itself into winter mood. Hajnice hill (341 m) is the main spot in the valley. On the top, there is an observation tower where you can enjoy the view of the Povazsky Inovec nature. Should you descend a bit, then you would discover the Haluzicka gorge . There still stand mysterious remains of Haluzicky church’s walls.

The Vrsatska Klippe is rightfuly considered one of the most beautiful mountain range in Slovakia. It definitelly dominates the region of Povazi. The mountain range is popular among tourists. You can experience amazing vistas, walk down a nature trail and learn about history of the region at a castle ruin. Get a taste of the area from today's photogallery.

The little town of Brezová pod Bradlom is situated on the foothills of the Small Carpathians. The town is linked to many important historic personalities such as Jozef Miloslav Hurban, Samuel Jurkovič, Štefan Osuský, Dušan Jurkovič or the legendary Sváko Ragan aka Martin Lacko. There are also several sights such as  Milan Rastislav Stefanik burial mould. The mould is very interesting and it will surely be a great reward for your hike there.

The Klapy range (Cikánka), a nature reserve, is situated close to a klippe belt. Several nature trails run to its summit. It is an easy hike suitable for children. Take a look at our photos and take it as inspiration to pack your own backpack and set off into the mountains.

In the central part of the Povazsky Inovec the small ski resort of Bezovec is located. There are six ski slopes good enough for beginners as well as experienced skiers. Apart from great skiing you can do some trekking there, for instance climbing up the peak of Bezovec. Up from there, you may enjoy a wonderful vista of the region of Povazi, the White Carpathian mountains, Tribec or Ponitri region.

In the following photo gallery we will take you to the Small Carpathians, more precisely to the surroundings of the village of Cachtice. Our goal will be to get to Maly and Velky Plesivec, which surrounds the Nature Reserve of the same name. The reserve is not only important for its aesthetic dimension but also for the natural one.. On the way, we enjoy a gradual climb, magical views of the countryside or views of majestic medieval castles.

Sulov Hills, including its surrounding mountain ranges, are very popular with all nature lovers as well as with mushroom-picklers. You can find there many tourist trails, offering wonderful views on many places.
