If you are heading for a trip to our highest mountains, Spindleruv Mlyn is one of the best bases at any time of a year. It lies at the very end of the road, which leads from Vrchlabi through the valley upstream of the Elbe river to the foot of the Krkonose Mountains (Giant Mountains).
Spindleruv Mlyn always offer some of the best conditions for skiers - whether for downhill or cross-country skiing. Today you will find 4 ski resorts that you can alternate with one ski pass throughout the day. The slopes of Medvedin, Svaty Petr, Horni Musecky and Labska together make more than 25 kilometers and offer tracks for everyone - from beginners to seasoned skiers.
The winter season is long here, visitors to Spindleruv Mlyn will like it here even in the summer. There are several important hiking and cycling trails from here, and the city itself offers sports activities.
Surely you can visit the spring of the Elbe, the Snowpile and the Labska Cabin - either take a hiking trail through Horni Musccky or take a cable car to Medvedin to make your journey easier. From Spindle, you can also climb up to Snezka mountain after a 10 km long route along the red mark with an elevation slightly over 1,000 meters. For a slightly longer route with a smaller climb or go along the blue marked trail through the valley of the White Elbe.
Spindleruv Mlyn itself also offers Vodni Raj aquapark and wellness center or a ropingcenter. When you arrive in the city, you will pass quite distinct Labská dam, where one of the adrenaline experiences awaits you - crossing the Elbe at the height of up to 29 meters on a giant rope swing. Alternatively, you can recline the whole dam. Then you may climb the entire height of 35 bck up. High attention to security and supervision of experienced instructors is required.
The town offers about 10 thousand beds for visitors, yet we recommend that you seek accommodation in advance during the summer and winter season. Spindleruv Mlyn is rightfully one of the most popular sports and tourist destinations in the Czech Republic. There is an increasing number of visitors from Poland coming to see it.
You ride down the hill to the valley. Surrounding you are green hills. White buildings of local automobile factory brighten you. These are the halls of Skoda car company. Today we set out to one of the most visited tourist areas in the Czech Republic, the majestic and highest mountains of the country - the Giant Mountains. Our goal will be the largest and oldest mountain cabin of Luční bouda (1410 m above sea level).

Should you like skiing, snowboarding, or cross-country skiing, consider a stay at Prichovice, a mountain village which belongs to Korenov town. The former is situated on the borderline of the Jizerske and Krkonose mountain. It is close to Harrachov, and Rokytnice nad Jizerou. The E65 road runs there. You can find accommodation at some of local timbered cabins.
On the western edge of Janske Laze, in the direction of Cerny Dul, another tree trail was opened one year ago. It is the third wooden lookout tower going up into the clouds in the Czech Republic. Similar buildings are enjoying popularity in Germany.
Janske Lazne is a paradise for skiers, cross-country skiers and hikers during the winter. Snow is mostly here around November and is held until March. There is a large complex of slopes, ski lifts and cable cars. And if you are not really a fan of winter sports, there are so many activities for you, so there is no boredom!
Under Certova Mountain in the Giant Mountains, the mountain town of Harrachov is situated on the Mumlava River. The owner of the local estate - Count Jan Harrach - brought the first skis to Bohemia in the 19th century and the first winter sports took place here soon.
