Nýrsko water reservoir

Nýrsko, Klatovy district
Nýrsko-dam is situated on flow of Úhlava-river, distant 4 kms from Nýrsko and 19 kms from Klatovy, in southwestern direction. Behind pier, the lake is placed, capable to hold 21 millions m³ of water approx. Anyway, there is hold 16 millions m³ only. It is being used as water supply for town of Nýrsko and neighbouring communities. The dam is strewed, and from one part covered with concrete. Its height reaches 36 m, width 337 m. Water reservoir takes a surface of 148 ha, its biggest depth is 34 m. The construction of this dam was terminated in 1969. The road from Nýrsko to Železná Ruda leads along the dam. There are to be found two marked tourist trails. The yellow one leads around reservoir along western bank to the community of Hojsova Stráž, green marrked path leads along eastern bank in southern part.
