River Výrovka - Czech republic

River description:

The river springs in Kochánov and flows in the northern direction towards Vavřinec, where it turns to the west, in order in the northern direction to be mouthed into Elbe (Labe) from the left side. Its river basin makes 544 km². After pond of Vavřinec this small river flows through nice valley and leafy forests and meadows via narrow and unclear bed with trees laying in bed. After Církvice the bed is stony and there are appearing many small rapids. The valley is still enclosed. Near the community of Toušice there is a terrain breakage which established a difficult cascade with sharo stones. After the town of Kouřim, the valley becomes more open, the river looses its slope and bends through overgrown bed to its mouth. The brook is navigable at higher water-level during snow-thaw or after heavy rains. In October of every year there is taken place the watermen event, when enough water is secured by flowing out the water from pond. The drive is no problem for experienced men. Provided we do not rule the drive in a narrow and unclear bed, it would be better to leave out the upper section, in spite of the fact that the stream is a little slower from Doubravčany. Anyway, we recommend to carry your boats over the cascade in Toušice.

The camping place is situated near Kouřim, but it is far from the river.

Vavřinec: church of 19th century from white and red sandstone.

Kouřim: rests of fortification of 13th century, Gothic churchof 13th century, town hall of Baroque style with a museum.

Klášterní Skalice: rests of an abbey of 17th century.

Plaňany: Romanesque church of 12th century, arranged in Gothic style.

Radim: Renaissance castel of 17th century.
