The history of the former imperial court resort began in the 19th century. The hospital was demolished in 1994, but a new one is being built within three years. Gradually, the sanatorium is transformed into a hotel (2011) with a focus on families with children and in fact all those who like the Tatras within reach.
At present, the hotel offers superior accommodation in 28 rooms, of which up to 17 have a view of the Strbske Pleso. There are DeLuxe rooms and a royal suite, as well as a wheelchair-accessible room. The family-run hotel features the Al Lago Restaurant, under the direction of Chef Martin Kurhajec, which offers traditional Mediterranean cuisine with a selection of Slovak specialties. Every true Czechoslovak visited Štrbské Pleso. This Slovakian prides is located in High Tatras and is strictly demarcated by nature. It requires no physical endurance and despite cold it is a cozy place opened to everyone who comes to see it.
There are not many options for tourism during winter months in the High Tatras as during the main season.
