Views of the Danube All the Time: From Spitz to Dürnstein and Back

Probably the most beautiful 25 kilometers of the Danube cycle path from Spitz to Dürnstein are perfect for a fun family bike trip. On the route you can stop at the museum in Spitz on the Danube, where you will learn all about the interesting history of Danube cruises. You will also move around the legendary ruins of the Hinterhaus castle. After climbing its 1000-year-old fortifications, you will enjoy a panoramic view, and if you are a little lucky, you will also see knightly and bandit games. Be sure to include ferry transport to the other bank of the Danube as a mandatory activity.

Traisental Biking Path: Frogs, Camels and the Capital of the County

The Traisental cycle route takes you through idyllic terraced vineyards over 111 kilometers and through the vast fields of the Mostviertel. The two sections are especially suitable for families, because there is a great reason to relax for children on the road almost every turn. On a 6 km long route around St. Aegyd is worth a visit at the fun camel theater in Kernhof. A little longer is the circuit along the river Traisen in St. Pöltene. This exciting journey of discovery through the capital of the federal state invites you to visit the Lower Austrian Museum with aquarium and terrarium. From the Klangturm tower you will have a view of St. St. Pölten from a bird's eye view. It is also worth stopping at the Viehofner Lakes and changing from bicycle to water bike or boat. In the floodplain of the Feldmühle nature trail, you can observe many species of birds, frogs and butterflies among the plants.

Türnitz Biking Path by the Rail: Visiting Tunnels in Mostviertelu

On the Türnitz Bahnradweg cycle path, you and your children can travel 18 kilometers off the road with cars and through three railway tunnels. In the Prinztal, Moosbach or Dickenau tunnels, you don't have to worry about a train suddenly approaching you - the railway line has been closed for a long time. At the end of the track in Türnitz is the state-of-the-art Lower Austrian Eibl-Jet toboggan run and the Türnitz nature adventure pool with water and beach playgrounds, which provide plenty of fun for the whole family.

The 11-kilometer-long cycling route runs along the March-Thaya floodplain through rolling wheat fields, fragrant meadows and the fascinating floodplain forest in the Weinviertel. Royal eagles, deer, storks and rare amphibians will be your companions on the way in Austria's most biologically diverse river landscape. Adults should plan plenty of breaks, as idyllic bathing sites, children's playgrounds and bird and frog watching platforms await you throughout the cycle route.
