River description:
The river sources on northeast slope of Ďumbier Mountain. It flows throughout Jánská Valley into Váh-river, its mouth is from left side. The river basin takes 65 km², from total length of 18 kms, it is navigable the section of 6 kms length.
Štiavnica is quite violent small mountain river with stone river-bed, cut in its upper section into countryside with its deep afforested valley. The rapids are often connecting each other. Its narrow and 5-7 metres wide river-bed is quite difficult terrain even for experienced watermen, equipped with necessary equipment. In its lower section, you need, not to forget low foot -bridges, and with division for more river-branches. However, last 2 kms of flow, the river is very overgrown and passable with difficulties.
