SK: Winter Vacation on Northeast of Slovakia

Travel with us to northeastern Slovakia, which is attractive throughout the year. However, the winter season offers a more magical view of the countryside, downhill skiing and cross-country skiing, but you can also relax.

Accept invitations for hiking and cycling trails that turn into cross-country skiing in winter. In Bardejov and Bardejov Baths there are more than 40 km of marked hiking trails and approximately 10 km of cycle paths that offer a pleasant and unpretentious winter walk. This can also be experienced in the Dukla forest park near Svidník. For lovers of beautiful views, we recommend a visit to the lookout tower on Kamenna Hora(Bardejov), Montenegro or in the vicinity (lookout tower, lookout tower Stavok).

Popular Skiing

Although the ski resort Regetovka will not be open this year, you certainly will not miss the skiing in the northeast of Slovakia. Just visit the ski resort of Makovica, which has one of the lowest slopes in the country, but a 950-meter ski slope and a snowpark with nine obstacles will provide you with the right winter skiing. Slightly better snow conditions are provided by the Medvedie ski resort, which has three ski lifts and natural snow.

Cross-Country Skis Instead of Bikes

If you are a cross-country skiing enthusiast, do not miss a ride on the groomed track on the ridge from Mihálov-Bardějov to Griglov's equality. Another interesting route is Vinbarg Bardejov - Cherry Bardejov Spa of similar length. For more experienced cross-country skiers we recommend the path Ostrá Hôrka - Bardejov Spa (4 km), the route Vila Orlík - Čerešňa Bardejov Spa (7 km), the path of swimming pool Bardejov Spa - Oxygen path - lake and finally Bardejov Spa towards Zborov Castle - Winter well - lake 5 km). There are also several ice rinks in the region, of which Svidník is the exception.

Wellness, Bathing, and Cultura

After and for skiing, you can swim in warm water. In the north-east of Slovakia there is a water paradise Aquaruthenia Svidník with indoor pools and wellness with year-round operation and the beautiful and healing Bardejov Spa near Bardejov. These are, by the way, one of the most popular tourist attractions. A visit to the Slovak National Museum - the Museum of Ukrainian Culture, which includes a museum of folk architecture with a rare wooden temple, as well as the Dezider Milly Gallery with a set of rare icons, can be a pleasant variegation of your free time.

We must mention eleven unique wooden temples of the Eastern ceremony or the Military Museum open all year round with an exhibition in Svidník. After dark we recommend to visit the Roztoky observatory because it offers some of the best observation conditions in Slovakia.

History Attracts Visitors

The real jewel of tourism is the historical town of Bardejov, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It rightly boasts its Town Hall Square with Gothic town houses, the Basilica of Min. Egídia or the former town hall - the first Renaissance building in Slovakia, which houses the Šariš Museum exposition. Uniques include the Suburbium - Old Synagogue.

But come here alone, this is not all you can experience here.
