River description:
The river sources in High Tatra Mountains in western direction from the community of Štrba. At first, it flows in south direction, at the community of Važec it turns to southwest, and this direction is kept to the mouth with Čierny Váh (Black Váh). River-basin makes 135 square kilometres, the length of passable flow makes 17,7 kms.
The river has, in its upper section at Važec, narrow stony gravelled bed with great slope and many stages. From the community of Východná, the slope is moderating. Especially from Čierna Dolina House, river character is changing in substantial way - Biely Váh starts to be meandering, and overgrown banks are appearing, they are missing after 2-3 kms section, and the river bed becomes to be rather wider. The river is suitable for watermen with standard abilities. Each year, there is organized common descent of Biely Váh (within scope of International Tatra Waterman Circle). Anyway, this depends on actual water-level situation.
The river navigation could be easily judged according to single water-register in Východná. Minimal stage - for section Važec-Východná - is 125 cm, for section Východná - mouth - it is 110 cms.
