River description:
This river was originally created by confluence of Biela and Čierna Orava (White and Black Orava). Both these rivers mouth into dam-lake, interfering into Poland. From the dam, the river flows in southwest direction up to its mouth into Váh-river. River-basin takes 1990 square kilometres, length of navigable section makes 63,5 kms.
Below the dam, river-bed is wide and water stream, after construction of levelling basin, is mostly standard. However, water level for safe navigation, is reached very seldom. From the town of Tvrdošín, the river-bed is covered with gravels, it has higher slope, and some rapids are appearing below the community of Párnica. Nevertheless, there is organized common descent-navigation, within scope of International Watermen Tatra Circle.
