Slovakian mountains are beautiful and popular among tourists. Their diversity is truly remarkable considering the size of Slovakian territory. Some mountains are covered with forests, others just with grass or bare rocks. Mostly they truly dominate their landscapes.

On one winter weekend we traveled to the region of Nitra. Our destination was the town of Podhajska. Its train station is located between Nove Zamky and Levice towns. The name comes from its location on southern slopes of the Pohronska Upland. Its hills sit on the flat and are covered with beautiful oak and locust groves.

Once we took a look at parks, the singing fountain, or the underground of Main Street we move to city’s most famous sights.

The castle looming above Bratislava has four towers and it is hard to miss. Well, it would be a pity not to visit it. If only it was for the view over the city it would be worth it. It really does the city proud after its renovation in 2010. Inside, there are interesting historical exhibitions. Before getting inside, let’s walk up the hill and learn more about castle’s interesting history.

When we left the East Slovakian Museum we set off for a walk along Kosice’s pride – Main Street. In this street, the majority of the most important sights is located.

Many people see the Slovakian capital only when passing by in train, bus, or car while travelling from the Czech Republic to Hungary or vice versa. But it is really worth it to spend a while in the city of half-million on the Danube. Bratislava has changed. It is no longer boring, grey city. It has been gradually removing the damage done by the communist regime and life crawls back to the city.

The metropolis of the east welcomed us with open hands. We saw its most beautiful thing – the Gold Treasure of Kosice. We inspected it thoroughly and with great deal of enthusiasm. Then we moved on to see other interesting galleries in the museum.

We haven’t visited Slovakia’s second largest city for quite a long time. We cme upon a decision to change this. We packed our things, start our car and drove to the east.

Today we once again visit Turcianska Garden surrounded by monumental Mala and Velka Fatra. We also visit Strane, a neighborhood in Martin city. At the terminus of a public transport line there is a beautiful protected climbing road.

The weather in the following morning was amazing and sunny. Upon packing all of our things we set off. Following the yellow tourist trail we reached a red route. Then we followed the green route which got us to Polana. There we climbed an unmarked trail up to the summit of the Vihorlat, the peak of the day.
