CZ: Bukovanský Mill and Surroundings – A Resting Area for Children and Grown-Ups
The mill and the hotel are the dominant feature of the village of Bukovany near Kyjov. The area is located about 5 kilometers from the town of Kyjov. The lookout tower in the style of a Dutch windmill is about 15 meters high. Located in altitude 325 meters. From the lookout tower there is a beautiful view of the Chřiby Mountains, the White Carpathians, and, with ideal visibility, even the Kobyla hill near Bratislava, up to 110 kilometers away.
The wooden blades of the mill are powered by a motor, not by the wind. In addition to the function of a lookout tower, the mill also serves as a museum for visitors to the complex. Inside you will not see an exhibition of Slovácko village, historical photographs from the 19th century. In the lower part there is a so-called fireplace, which is rented for various social events, occasions or various business meetings.
The area also offers a range of activities for both children and adults. Here you can see beautiful nature, animals, playground. You have the opportunity to see donkeys, rabbits, goats or sheep, for which you can also buy food in the area. Not only for children it is a great experience! You will also find minigolf, directly below the complex, or Stezku Bosou Nohou trail, which is worth trying. There is also a shooting range for recreational archery.
But so that we don't just stay at the Bukovanský mill complex, let's take a look at other beautiful places together. In the vicinity you will find many interesting tourist destinations.
The first is, for example, the chateau in Milotice. It is one of the most unique preserved complexes of buildings and garden architecture from the Baroque period.
Another is the Kyjov Museum of National History, which is housed in the oldest preserved building in the city (it was built around 1540). Here you will find permanent exhibitions and current exhibitions.
The last goal is the fortified settlement of St. Klimenta near Vřesovice, which is a place of pilgrimage and at the same time a national cultural monument and an important archaeological site connected with the history of Moravia.
