The location of the city mean it had experienced rule of many civilizations and empires. The last of them, the Ottoman Empire, conquered Izmir in 1389, in the time when it still was a part of the decaying Byzantine Empire.

For a while we leave Central Europe, we move to the Irish Sea, the home of the Isle of Man. Its coat of arms is rather interesting as it shows three armed legs in the shape of triskelion. In my opinion, the region of Křivoklát is one of the most beautiful corners of our country. However, by far it doesn't consist only of Křivoklát Castle itself, but a large portion of its charm makes the local deciduous forests, the Berounka Valley and the landmarks that the area hides. One of the places worth visiting is the village of Nižbor thanks to the castle and its surroundings. Let's go to it together.

Today, we return to Luxembourg to visit the town of Echternach, located in the canton of the same name, near the border with Germany. The approximately five-thousand-year-old town spreads near the river Sûre (Sauer) and is the main starting point for tourists looking for the so called Little Switzerland in Luxembourg.

In the northern part of the Banská Bystrica region, approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Banská Bystrica, lies the village of Brusno. From the cadastral point of view, the territory was originally divided between the villages of Svatý Ondrej and Brusno, but in 1960 it was merged into one large municipality.
