The Plitvice Lakes are situated in the Dinaric karst area at altitude of 500–640 meters. These are a group of 16 large and several small karst lakes in cascade arrangement. Over 140 waterfalls links these lakes together. The cascades were created by activity of unique bacteria living in moss and grass. Barriers between the lakes rise up to 3 centimeters each year.

Being in Rome one should visit Vatican - the smallest country in the world. Millions of tourists visit it every year and sea its museums, the Sistine chapel, or St Peter's basilica. Near Bratislava close to borders with Austria and Hungary there is an Endorheic and salty Lake Neusiedl. Near Balaton it is the only steppe lake in Europe. Its depth is 2 meters at most and thanks to this it became a paradise for unique fauna and flora. Also it is popular among tourists, sportsmen and everyone who likes nature.

For a while we leave Central Europe, we move to the Irish Sea, the home of the Isle of Man. Its coat of arms is rather interesting as it shows three armed legs in the shape of triskelion. It is an ancient symbol that appeared in many cultures that don’t exist today. Yet today, you might see it at Sicily’s flag.

Just several kilometers south from Brno there is Rajhrad, a beautiful wine-growing town. There is a unique Benedictine cloister and adjacent to it the Memorial of literature in Moravia. Also, there St Peter and Paul church. To us, Rajhrad is an ideal place for a one-day trip from Brno either by train, car or bike. In summer, one afternoon is enough to enjoy it.

South Bohemia is a popular and beautiful region. Cesky Krumlov is one of the most popular sites here. Yet every other village is just like it was taken from some fairy tale. A village square with gables is sort of a prototype of a classic Czech village. When you have a pond on the square then you can easily expect to see a water goblin making shoes out of willow. Holasovice is one such village. In 1998 it became a UNESCO site.

In my opinion, the region of Křivoklát is one of the most beautiful corners of our country. However, by far it doesn't consist only of Křivoklát Castle itself, but a large portion of its charm makes the local deciduous forests, the Berounka Valley and the landmarks that the area hides. One of the places worth visiting is the village of Nižbor thanks to the castle and its surroundings. Let's go to it together.
