CZ, Brno – Animal Paradise in the Moravian Metropolis
In Brno's northwest (near Brno Dam) there is a zoological garden founded back in 1953. It holds over 800 animals, together 210 species. Before entering the zoo, take a look at their website for you have a chance to see a commented feeding which would add to your experience.
It is situated Brno-Bystrc district on the Mnisi Mountain slopes. It is a nature landmark area which is the home to oak-hornbeam forest. The zoom has made its mark in history for couple of times - it was the very first zoological garden in former Czechoslovakia which began with breeding polar bear and shimpanzee cubs. It also had an exterior aquarium in city center (on Radnicka Street). There were over 100 fish tanks holding over thousand fish (including sea fish or invertebrates). However, the exhibition was moved into the current compound in 2011. There is only a fraction of it to see now.
You get a modern look at nature and its inhabitants in the zoo. The most attractive pavilions are Tiger rocks where tigers and leopards are stationed. The outer part resembles a jungle. Inside, there is a rock. Another interesting pavilion is of Canadian wolves including a replica of Hadia cabin, a Canadian native American tribe. There is also a buffalo run or a teepee, There is a Mongolian yurta in the Przewalski's horse run which is the only descendand of domestic horse.
There are even individual villages. The African one introduces giraffes, lemurs, zebras, or flamengoes. In the Russian village (Beringia exhibition), you will meet bears of Kamchatka, volwerines, several birds from Siberia or even sea lion. The Tropical kingdom is very popular among visitors. The same goes for bald eagle aviary, or a kangaroo run which you can walk through. And we could go on and on.
There is children zoo for kids. It allows direct contact with animals, or fun on swings, monkey bars or slides. Surely you will welcome a little train which will make getting around in the hilly compound much easier.
You can connect to wi-fi in the zoo. Or you can buy a memorial coin or somethign to eat and drink at some of the stands. Some of the epxerience packages allow you to try the job of a zoo keeper, or have a birthday party in the zoo. Take a whole day to see the zoo. You won't regret. You'll see..
