Just nearby, you find several training and four descent slopes in length from 300 to 1000 metres. Portáš cottage is similar, as far as the mode of use is concerned. Near is placed Stolečný Hill (962 m). In past, it was watch-point of frontiers-men (Portáši). They protected this eastern border.

It is lively tourist community, famous with its glass-industry in past. It is a stop on the way to National Nature Reservation Razula In winter, there is here ski-towage available, so this locality is popular especially with skiers. In a village, you find many buildings in originally people´s style, so this place looks like as a small skansen. Snow-tubing can be a pleasant variegation for you.
Nature reservation Razula
It is situated not far from Velké Karlovice, under northern slopes of Lemešná (950 metres of sea level) in spring-fan of Hanzlůvka brook. The reservation area was declared in 1949 - its extention is 23,52 ha - for protection of original fir-oak overgrowns of ancient forest with addition of pine-trees (Picea abies) and mapple-tree (Acer pseudoplatanus). Both plants are typical for Javorníky mountain-range. This reservation is characteristic for its high share of declined wood ( dry wood, breakages, fallen trees). However, the reservation is not open for public. Anyway, you can see at least a little of these scenery from rest-summer-house at northwestern edge of National Preserve Reservation. It is places´d along marked cycloroute No. 6020/4 from Velké Karlovice to Leskové, throughout Malá Hanzlůvka Valley (you can find here big pool with amphibians), further to col under Lemešná and to Pod´tadé Valley, where you find several preserved people´s buildings.
Malý Javorník (Small Javorník)
Malý Javorník - or Chotárńa - is, with ist 1019 m of height, the biggest peak of Czech part of Javorník Mountain Range. Javorník forms cupola-hill in a range, in distance of 6 kms in southern direction from Velké Karlovice. On a top, you find emergency penthouse, and a stop of educational-path Javorníky-Družby. It is marvellous view around. State frontier with Slovakia breaks on top and leaves range path. Overgrowns on slopes are formed by mixed forests, with prevailing quantities of pine-trees at present. On southern slopes, there is placed nature reservation Adamkov, with preserved original plant-communions.
The access to the top is possible along red marked tourist path, marking range-path on Javorníky. A peak could be found in 5 kms distance from Kohútka (via Stolečný Hill and Frńovské Col). Red marked path continues in direction to Slovakia across Stratenec and Velký Javorník (Great Javorník). The orientation is easy.
