CZ: Šabina Village

History

The first notice about the locality of Šabina is to be found in a document of 1309. Since 1889, Šabina is an independent community (with the exception of time period 1960-1990, when the locality was a quarter of Libavské Údolí).

Local places of interest

To most important monuments belongs, no doubt, Šabina Stronghold, rectangular building, originally Gothic, later a house, arranged in Renaissance style. Inside, the vaults are preserved, and from outside, you can admire an escutcheon of George Štoltz of Gostomka (Georg Stolz von Simsdorf). Four-side construction of St. Anne Chapel, including a fountain in the neighbourhood, was newly constructed in 2001, as a copy of original chapel of the same consecration, was completely demolished during road enlargement in 1960. To another historical monuments belongs house No. 9, so called „Hrázděnka“ (Carpentered House) dwelling house with carpentered shield and stable, built in brick. It is very good sample of people´s architecture from the end of 18th century.

Sporting activities

The community did not forget for their sportsmen. They have the chance to spend their leisure time in skittle-ground, lawn-tennis courts or in playground for more purposes - for volley-ball or basketball. Sagyra horse-riding section is partially financed from community budget. The respective programme for „Children Days“ is secured in cooperation with the community. They perform jump drive or drill. Sagyra was the first horse, who represented this riding club, and the organization got the name after him.

Monuments in the environs

Not far deom Šabina, close to the community of  Dasnice, a Chlumek castle was to be found, originally known as Perglas, since 1750, the property of Nostitz Parentage. In south direction, many sources are hidden inside peat-bogs. Šabina carbonic acid minedral water belongs to most known ones, comparable with its composition to another spa springs.

Despite the fact that Šabina is a small village, local magazine is to be issued here. Each number (appears within three months) informs the citizens about life environment, cultural events, actual news, anniversaries and other activities of the community.
