It's quite cold outside, but would you still like to go on a bike ride? The next bike trip we completed was around a picturesque landscape full of forests near Mníšek pod Brdy and it was definitely a very good choice.
The trip we are about to make today is not for everyone. A narrow trail on the hillside is not very friendly to hikers. Some sections are to be overcome only thanks to chain railing. You will go uphill or downhill constantly. The 6.5 kilometers trail is no way to be shortened. Moreover, there are no snack stands let alone a pub. So? Are you still down to it? You are about to experience an adrenaline trip with a bonus of a beautiful vista over the Vltava meander and wilderness.
For the next few weeks will guide you through the micro-region located between Prague and the Sázava River. A total of 24 municipalities joined in 2000 to create a fairy-tale area whose name is named after one of the greatest personalities of Czech culture - the painter and writer Josef Lada.
Today we will take you to a fabulous region surrounded by picturesque nature. More precisely, to a village where water sprites, ghosts and all kinds of animals that even speak live. Our goal will be the village Hrusice, located less than 40 kilometers from the historic center of Prague.
Last week we visited the beautiful town of Velké Popovice, just a few kilometers southeast of Prague, where we learned not only history but also local monuments and natural scenery. However, we deliberately omitted one landmark that is inextricably linked to the town. Perhaps you already know that the talk is about the local famous brewery, which you can visit with us now.
Today we set out for the Sázava River, which is considered the Golden River. Not only the color of the water but also the fact connected with gold mining in Jílové u Prahy contributed to this name.
South end of Pysely is surrounded with mixed forest called Obora. There, a short nature trail was constructed on an already existent road.
The town situated on both banks of the Sázava River is known for its romantic nature trails, the most famous of which is the Posázavská. The romantic character of the landscape is enhanced by the slopes above the river bed and on one of the hills the gem of the Sázava Monastery. The Sázava region also became a place for many glass factories, as crystalline limestone was mined here. One of the resurrected glassworks is Huť František.
Important business and transportation junction, a modern and dynamic city, but also a place full of history - this is Benešov, from Prague distant less than fifty kilometres.
Mnisek pod Brdy located below Brdsky Ridge, is a great place to set off on a trip around beautiful surroundings of Brdy. The town it self is also interesting.
In what other season when everything blossoms, one should this chateau? Also, the state chateau located in Mnisek pod Brdy, is extraordinary. Especially a park there.
Those who does not want to live in Prague but does not want to be too far away from Prague usually choose Ricany. Well, Ricany are not only a synonym for an ideal address off Prague. The city offers many things. It is a place connected to history and tradition.
If you take one of famous images from painter and writer Lada and walk around Hrusice, you would recognize it only in hints. Although the reality of everyday life looks somewhat different from precise pictures, Lada´s sensitive and wonderland soul lives in a Hrusice till now. No doubt about it.
Panenské Břežany – tiny by area, large by significance. This small Central-Bohemian town located only 15 kilometers from Prague had many times an important if not main role in the Czech history.
Interesting and picturesque town is located on a border of two regions – Prague East and Kolin. According to the authorities, it used to be part of Kolin. However, few years ago somebody decided that Kostelec nad Cernymi lesy would far better if it is closer to Prague. So now it is definitively in the Prague East district.
As the name implies, it is the ruin of Kostelec nad Sazavou castle. The ruins are visible from Hradecice hill, in Cizov u Tynce nad Sazavou natural reservation. After 300 meters of hike a beautiful view to the valley and the Sazava river opens to you.
There are many beautiful views in the Sazava river in the region of Central-Bohemia. One of them is on a rocky top of Hadi Skala. The view is over a valley right in front of the town of Davle, where the Sazava meets the Vltava River. A circular route mostly goes through forests and easy terrain. The route is 6 kilometers long. The start place is the town of Petrov. From there we follow the yellow path.
HOTEL Chateau BERCHTOLD is situated near Prague in the fabulous land of Lada. Its name comes from the noble Berchtold family. They owned the chateau at the turn of the 20th century. In 2005, a complete reconstruction and revitalization of the chateau began. It transformed the compound to a place where interesting events take place. Especially families with children are fond of the chateau for its family atmosphere and delicious food.
