Greece, Paralia – Vibrant Resort
We stay in the sunny country of Greece also this week. Today, we visit the most popular summer resort on the Olympic riviera – the town of Paralia. This sea resort is about 8 kilometers away from the capital of Pieria prefecture. Paralia is a great place to relax at and have fun.
If you love clean, snad beaches, crystal clear sea, good food, temperamentful people then Paralia is just for you. There are amazing promenades lined with shops, taverns, restaurants and discos. Moreover, there is an amusement park and beautiful places in nature. Families with children can enjoy many water attractions and shallow sea by the coastline.
The name of this area means beach. Therefore, there are towels, blankets or parasols. Moreover, there are many cafés and many vendors selling home-made cones. Which are delicious, by the way. Also note interesting mailboxes, frescoes on house walls, or the wharf. You may also see turtle breeding facility and boats anchored along the seafront.
Apart from hotels there is also an Orthodox church dedicated to martyr Agia Paraskevi who allegedly treated blindness. The church is open also at night.
Paralia is a recreation resort. But you can add to your stay by making trips to the surrounding areas. For instance, visit the former capital of the prefecture, or go to the mountain town of Litochoro, the nearby village of Kallithea, or Dion archeological excavation site.
Next week we visit a small Greek island of Skiathos and its Koukounaries beach. It is considered one of the most beautiful Mediterranean beaches in the world.

Are you starting to plan where you will go on vacation when possible? And you don't just want to lie on the beach, but prefer an active holiday? Explore the Greek island of Corfu, a paradise for pedestrians and nature lovers. A two-hundred-kilometer-long trail awaits you into a landscape untouched by mass tourism, from the top of the highest mountain Pantokrator in the north, in the central part of the island through endlessly terraced hills of olive groves to sand dunes dotted with junipers and valleys full of oaks and chestnut trees in the south. island.
Certainly the most picturesque and romantic place I have seen in Europe is the Greek island of Santorini. And that is one of the reasons why we returned here this year after nine years. I will not lie when I reveal that another important aspect of our revisit was very cheap tickets, of which there are more than enough on offer. The best weather is of course here in the season, but even now it is a pleasant 18 degrees.
Thessaloniki or Thessaloniki is the 2nd largest Greek city after Athens. It was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988, and to this day you can see and visit many buildings from the early Christian period and the Byzantine Empire. Due to its location, the city was of strategic importance in the past and is still very popular with tourists.
Lefkada is said to be a pearl in the Ionian Sea and to have just the most beautiful beaches in all of Greece. The name Lefkada dates back to ancient Greece and was derived from the bright white cliffs at the southernmost tip of the island. And we will take a closer look at this gem together today.
Beautiful nature, green olive groves and many famous beaches, that is Zakynthos. It is the southernmost and third largest island in the Ionian Sea. The symbol of this island is the beach with the wreck of a smuggling ship. But don't expect historical monuments like Rhodes or Crete.
For ancient Greece enthusiasts, visiting any other city is probably not a “duty”. After all, it is the most important Greek city-state and the center of Hellenic trade, art and politics. Today, the city is a busy metropolis, which has managed to preserve most of its historical legacy, so nothing prevents us from taking a walk where the new and the old mix.
Corfu (Kerkyra in Greek) is one of the smaller islands in the Mediterranean Sea. Most tourists come here with a clear destination - relax on the beach, gyros and tzatziki, ouzo and maybe one or two trips to the most interesting sights. This 60 km long island with a long and interesting history can offer much more.
Santorini (Thira in Greek language) is a relatively small part of the Cyclades archipelago, with a width of only 6 km and a length of just over 25 km. Its area, however, strongly balances the geographical and geological location of the island and its rich history. Situated 220 km from Athens and 110 km from Crete, Thira has always been an important and often necessary stop on the route between these major shopping centers. As a result, traces of the largest Minoan settlement outside Crete have been preserved on the island.
We end our journey across Greece on Skiathos, an island in the Aegean sea. It makes the Sporady archipelago together with the neighboring islands of Skopelos and Alonissos. If you like Mama Mia musical, this is a total must for you.
This gem of Ionian Islands. It is known not only for beautiful beaches but also for its charming Greek countryside. You can enjoy it to the fullest on the island. Lefkada is situated south of Corfu and north of Cephalonia.
The title suggests that Crete is island of several great tourist attractions. People who love culture, those who love history and nature or just laying on a beach will all enjoy a stay here. The history of Crete is, however, very colorful. Therefore, it would be a pity to spend your vacation just being lazy on a beach.
This time we decided to set off to explore towns and cities in Greece. Litochoro was one of our first stops. This "stone town" is situated close to the Olympic Mountains.
Today we visit Greece's forgotten corner.
Upon our visit to Litochoro, we moved several kilometers on. Our next stop was a typical Greek village with amazing nature, interesting architecture and amazing vistas.
Kos is one of many Greek islands. It is a popular destination not only for Czech tourists. It is located in the Aegean Sea near the Turkis shores near the Bay of Koss. It is a small island – it is 45 kilometers long and 10 kilometers wide. The shore is 112 kilometers long.
Local people don´t call the island other way than tell Zante. This home of giant tortoises, not about a typical Greek island with countless historical monuments, but if you will go there, you spend nice a very pleasant holiday, at which you will surely like to remember.
One of the most popular holiday resorts in recent years has been Greek island of Samos, the birthplace of famous Pythagoras. What reason stands behind large numbers of tourists coming there between June and first half of September? There are actually couple of them!
