Greece: Zakynthos - The Journey Cross Turtle Island III.
Near the Blue caves, at the very northern tip of the island, lies the place, which cannot be missed on any promotional leaflet with the attractions of this island. The serpentine road above the cliffs, surrounded by centuries-years old olive trees, will take us for less than twenty minutes on one of the countless rocky West Coast prospects. But this place is different. There, where the other small coves with beaches would offer constant recurring scenery of surf, this bay is different. Dusty parking, mobile stand with homemade sweets and the metal bridge to shows that there is something bigger going on.
Bold steps cross small iron bridge, steep rocks and surf below... Before us endless water area, but we watch it down, overcome dizziness, and then reaching for the camera. The small cove is already considerably dilapidated wreck smuggling, and how the local like to say - "pirate" ship. The area of 100x200 feet resting already well rusted hull schooner, whose treasure was the supply of alcohol and cigarettes, which he gladly local rivers and the lightning speed divided, so that according to legend is said that the year has been to Zante as drinking and smoking.
The point of view with a picturesque cove is not the only way to visit the beach Navagio. As I mentioned, more attractions on the island is not, so here goes most especially boat trips from most local departments. From the south are the all-day cruise around the island with a price around 30 Euros, visit during which both the wreck and blue caves. Swimming at the "beach shipwreck" is the unforgettable experience, as well as photographing the aforementioned wreck. Who issued here by boat, see the scenery, although the prospects and vice versa. It is good during the holidays to choose both options, one day to spend in the car, the latter on some cruise ships circling the island. Just as interesting are the Blue Caves in the morning and afternoon, the beach Navagio beautiful and most romantic evening when the sun lowers on the horizon and slowly fell into place, with its rays warming up the turquoise surface and very white cliffs of amazing show of colours and shades.
Sunsets on Zakynthos are reportedly not the most romantic in the whole Mediterranean, but that you are in Greece, Italy and Croatia with virtually everything. Everything is the best everywhere. Actually all those patriots are right. Although this island has no too typical of that beauty and ancient monuments, Zante has a soul. Maybe a little sluggish, but definitely she typically are surrounded by the Greek tradition of small tavernas, peaceful life and efforts to come out to meet visitors. The island was for many years under British rule and even today most of the tourists from the very earth Albion. Also natives mostly speak more or less simply English, with German language it is the more difficult, especially because some of the war there is no just a Germanic nation warm sympathy, despite the financial boost from recent years. Czech tourists are very popular here, so do not be the slightest fear that the wrong will be taken care of. Unless you choose to holiday on this island and you're not big fans of ministries, feel free to the offer of an all-inclusive tours. Extreme in alcohol is not healthy anyway and the quality of denatured spirits it is not satisfied, but it depends on each of us. I just wanted to tell my own experience that the ideal solution is to go on holiday to one of the studies and the money saved from boarding sprout spend in local taverns as well try the local food supply fresh, tasty vegetables, excellent olive oil, white bread and giant tomatoes. And if you will not want to cook, beach gyros for two Euros everything sorted out for once. The local specialty is recommended Zakynthos rabbit in tomato sauce, ready to Zakynthos sweet onions and local red wine, whose power is better to try just carefully…
