Lower Austria: Enjoy the Spring Season at Our Neighbors
Meadows have been gradually becoming green again. Orchards blossom, vine grows on vineyards. Simply put, the spring season has just started. Many events take place during this time. Today we talk about Lower Austria and all kinds of things you can do or attend there including festivals or beautiful sights.
First, we would like to invite you to Wachau valley. The Wachau Gourmet Festival is taking place there these days (until April 14, 2016). Top international or local cooks and top wine-makers gather here to meet one another. In case you were interested why creation of cook masters are so unique then visit this event. What you can enjoy here are, for instance, products made of Wachau saffron or delicious hand-made chocolate.
Those of you who love apple juice should visit the region of Mostviertel. White pear tree leaves veil the landscape to beautiful veil of flowers. Apple juice spring climaxes on The Apple Juice Day (24 April, 2016). It gives you plenty of opportunity to explore nature around and get spoiled by great culinary. Don’t hesitate no more and go to wine cellars where you can taste typical „Schofkase“ (sheep cheese), home-made fruit ice cream, and apple juice. Last but not least you can taste local high-grade distillates.
Lower Austria is home to wine. Thermenregion (at the imperial spa city of Baden) is home to the Wine in the Park (26 May, 2016), the event where more than 50 wine-makers gather to introduce the best of their production. In Kamptal valley and around Langelois, you can celebrate the Kamptal Wine Spring. Especially, we recommend you to visit the region on April 23 and 24, 2016. Wine-makers introduce their latest wines as well as some vintages. Home-made brynza spread or fresh rural bread taste good with their wine.
Before the conclusion we would like to present you one last tip for a trip. Go to the Gutenstein Alps to enjoy beautiful spring atmosphere there. You can either take a walk there, ride a Segway or an electric bike. Most certainly, you will love the nature there. Also, there are many family-run restaurants. The spring is wonderful in Lower Austria. Be sure to go there and get to know it.

Winter is here again. For some, it is perhaps too cold and harsh, but to me it is the most popular season of the year. Everything is hidden under a fluffy white blanket of snow and acts somewhat calmer, and even cleaner than the rest of the year. It is also a time of winter holidays in the mountains, meeting with friends over a glass of mulled wine or it is a time of a great cabbage soup, which will warm you up in this season.
Mitterbach is a small village situated in charming nature, in Federative County of Lower Austria.
