SK: Kysucke Beskydy, Oscadnica – Winter Joys on a Slope

After a grueling work week, we finally managed to at least go out for the weekend out Bratislava. Our steps led us to Zilina to see my sister. We did not stay in the city. Since there are several high-quality ski resorts, we decided that we take snowboards and during the day we go somewhere to ride on slopes.

V sobotu jsme navštívili lokalitu Paseky in Vratna Valley Vrátné dolině, except where we delighted in fine sunny weather also the fact that the services in Slovakia are not that bad. Well-maintained slopes, relatively good range of food and drinks, but also a sufficient amount of ancillary services and ultimately kind and helpful staff. All of this we found in Vratna.

Velka Raca - Oscadnica

Even in Sunday we been sitting on my ass. After breakfast, we threw things into the car and drove to the village of Kysuca Oscadnica. Right there there is one of the fastest developing resorts of the Kysuce. Three interconnected ski resorts (Dedovka, Marguska, Laliky) is located at an altitude from 600 to 1,050 meters. They offer almost 14 km of well-maintained slopes of all difficulties. Me, of course, this resort has artificial snow, so we ski despite the lack of natural snow can really enjoy to the fullest. Offer additional services, there is formidable. There ski schools, ski, ski service, ski rental, sports shop, and of course, several restaurants and bars right on the slopes.

We are, however, looking forward the most to the bobsled. It is located at the top station of Dedovka and, if favorable weather conditions is also open during the ski season. The fact that you can experience there real adrenaline you will find out at the first turning . If you do not fear, you can track which has a length of 1,400 meters to reach the incredible speed of 40 km/h . All adrenalin enthusiasts expect a lot of turns and jumps, as well as a 360-degree roundel. It is not, however, nothing to worry about. During the whole journey you are wearing a safety belt and the truck is designed so that under no circumstances left the track. However, if you are still undecided, there is nothing easier than to take bobsleigh ride with a friend. One truck is because they can carry up to two adults at a time. We tried it twice. Once we rode alone and one time in pair. I can not even tell you what I liked more. Whether that feeling when you are on our own path down and oblivious to anything but whistling wind chil , or when two " provoke each other," we have tried completely without braking and then only along fistula fear. In either case, bob sledding highly recommend. It is an experience never to be forgotten.

The observation tower on Velky Race

If you still haven’t got enough and you would like to do something more, I highly recommend you winter hiking or a cross-country skiing trip. One of the interesting objects can be, for example lookout atop the Velka Raca (1236 meters). It is about 2 and a half meter high wooden prospect, which is located on the highest hill of the Kysucke Beskydy. In good weather of it offers a beautiful view of the Moraskoslezske Beskydy, Poland, Babi Mountain , the peaks of Mala Fatra  or Rohac. The easiest way to get there if you ride a cable car to the top station at Laliky and away you go along marked tourist trail. In good weather, even in winter a hike would not take you more than an hour. Just below the summit on the Polish side is a tourist lodge, where you can pay there with euro. But we already were so overcome after the all-day snowboarding that we could not even think about more hiking. Ahead we still had a quite long way back home to Bratislava, so we stopped for an early dinner at the buffet, we had a little rest and a cup of tea together evaluate the weekend we really successful. Even the weather and service did not disappoint us this time.
