SK, Low Tatras: The Cabin of Milan Rastislav Štefánik
History
The family publishing house Dajama has already prepared the 333rd publication for its readers, which this time will take you to the Low Tatras. As we know, Slovakia is a promised country of tourism. This has been the case for a long time, after all, already in the second half of the 19th century, the basic network of shelters and cottages in the territory of the then Upper Hungary gradually began to form.
It is interesting that in less than a hundred years more than two hundred such objects have been added. To date, however, not many have been preserved. The famous "Štefánička" belongs to the mountain buildings that still stand and have been a part of the Low Tatras for almost a century.
Few of the tourist cottages in Slovakia have such a story. She was literally the "child" of the new Czechoslovak Republic and was considered her own not only by Slovaks, but also by Moravians and Czechs. The then main initiator of the construction was the Club of Czechoslovak Tourists (1924). Over the years, the cottage has become an iconic place and community center not only for tourists, but also for people looking for peace, understanding and well-being. An unforgettable atmosphere was created here by generations of cottagers, who have indelibly written their history.
About the Cabin
The cottage is located at the crossroads of hiking trails at an altitude of 1740 meters and is set in the Ďumbierské klippe. Throughout the year, it provides accommodation, refreshments or a pleasant sitting in an alpine environment. In addition to the exceptional atmosphere, you will find a small exhibition showing the history of the cottage and its surroundings, while you can enjoy a unique "carrier´s" beer. It is the highest draft drink in central Slovakia. The cottage is accessible only on foot, from the south side from Trangoška along the green tourist sign, from Kosodřevina along the blue sign, from Mýtná pod Ďumbierom along the yellow sign or along the ridge of the Low Tatras from Chopok and Čertovice along the red highway.
About the Book
