It Lives in Mosovce!

As we have already mentioned, Mosovce has lots of going on. Throughout the year there are many events. We would like to introduce you some of them. Among the them is Michael’s Fair in Mosovce , that starts at the beginning of October and is one of the largest events of its kind in the region.

Michael’s Fair in Mosovce

We have personally experienced it in the past, so we we can only recommend. So many stalls with displays of folk crafts, or to taste delicious dishes, you will not find just anywhere. The whole village is transformed into one "marketplace" where there is good humor and fun. It is worth mentioning events such as building of majy, firefighters’ ball and joined the parade of masks, or for sports fans run a half-marathon called SNP, as well as the largest amateur volleyball tournament Slovakia of SRZ cup.

Interesting educational trail

If you prefer nature or history, we recommend you to walk the nature trail that would take you through the town, to a swimming pool to the so called Baron’s tomb, to ponds, Cerhakova, across the park to the chateau. The trail ends in front of the municipality. On our way we spotted several information boards.
nature trail
Nature path focuses on important personas of the town, it provides tips for trips, tells you about fauna, flora, and sights to be found in Mosovce and around. Perhaps the most interesting board on the path was about the so called Island of Love.

the way to Island of Love

We have not visited the “island” but we think that you shouldn’t miss it. Why? As we have learned, the Island of Love is a lake that used to be part of a pond archipelago, and was built by Baron Frantisek Revay in 1890. A legend of Janosik, baron, and Maria, and healing water of the lake makes it an interesting place. And to prove if the water has healing effect is a thing that should be done. Would you try it?

Trips around

Even the surroundings of Mosovce is not less interesting than the town. You don’t need a car for trips, because many of unique sights or nature sights are within walking distance. Don’t miss a walk in Blatnicka valley where is a castle, town of Blatnice, and the Museum of Karel Plicka, Gaderska valley, or tourist hikes to the summits of mountains Tlsta and Ostra. And visit the Mazarna cave (only to admire from outside), or nearby spa of Turcianske Teplice.
