SK: Orava, Kubinska Hola – Great Family Skiing
Do you belong among winter sports lovers? Also, you can not imagine a winter holiday without a good snow and well-maintained slopes? Although, I have to admit that in recent years we go with a group on skiing for one week. Usually, we go abroad, but the Slovak mountains, we did not forgot about. My favorite places have been for years the Kysuce and Orava regions.
Today we live in a very hectic time, so it is not surprising that almost all of us are trying to find a hobby, in which not only relaxes well, but also gain new strength to cope with the onslaught of additional work and stress. For me it is definitely the best medicine for the soul picnics. Hiking and biking in the winter exchange for snowboarding.
I even could not even walk, my parents had a small children's ski boots strapped Bakelite, the duck, I met with skiing and not scared of him. Four years old I had with them fearlessly roamed the slopes. At puberty, I switched to a ski and snowboard that has since become my inseparable companion of winter.
Since I finished college, my “golden times" when I had free time to spare for skiing ended. Then I could run up more or less where I wanted. That is why today I try, if my work and family responsibilities allow, spend at least a weekend in the mountains. In Slovakia I like to return to a few ski resorts . It's just my subjective opinion, but not always, most resorts are also the ones where you feel best. Especially if you go skiing with small children.
The regions of Kysuce and Orava. I have mentioned them already in the introduction. They are among my favorites, they hide the sheer number of tourist paths, but also beautiful, historic monuments, interesting observation towers, modern water parks, several ski resorts and many other perks that come here every year attract many visitors. We are, after several years during which we prefer other ski resorts in northern Slovakia, again returned to ski resort at Kubinska Hola and I have to say that we did not regret. I have been carrying beautiful memories of "Kubinka" since my childhood, but I have to admit that since then, the ski resort has made a quantum leap forward.
For all lovers of winter sports there are really good services, very beautiful nature and breathtaking views. If someone did not know exactly where Kubinska Hola is, we should mention that it lies in Oravska Magura. It is very close to Dolni Kubin. Also experienced skiers and snowboarders will enjoy it here not to mention children, for which there is a children's ski school. Also freeriders will find entertainment here. In addition to two chair-ski tows, there are a also 8 ski tows. For all adrenalin enthusiasts, there is a snowboard park that is safely separated from the ski slopes. This will certainly please parents of small children. However, this is far from everything that this picturesque corner of Slovakia offers. For instance, I love the most the breathtaking view of the surroundings from the top of the ski resort that you will also enjoy if weather is good. You can admire almost the whole region of Orava as well as the Low Tatras and the Western Tatras, or the opposite Choc Hills , or the Velka Fatra and the Malá Fatra mountains. There is also a large parking lot where you can park your steel machine for free.
The area of the Oravska Magura with a slightly shaped and snow-covered slopes is ideal for cross-country skiers. There are really a lot of cross-country trails, one of which leads, for example, from the cottage Kolecko Cottage at Kubinska Hola to Revisne. Also, interesting is cross-country skiing in the lower altitudes of Oravska Magura, such as Hrustinske Podoli, or even in Dolny Kubin town, in the resort of Kuzminovo.
