SK, Ruzomberok: Malinô Brdo – Sports Resort

Malinô Brdo is situated close to Ruzomberok in the Velka Fatra mountains. The resort is accessible by car. When in Ruzomberok, turn right by the Shell gas station. This way you would travel to the Hrabovska valley. In only about 800 meters you would reach your destination. There is also a possibility to travel by  Cyklo & Ski buses or local cab company. Moreover, there are three parking lot, each free of charge.

The locality is accessible by walk as well. Go the red tourist trail which spans from Andrej Hlinka square to Kalvarie; then go to Hrabovka (a cable car if you follow a yellow tourist trail) or to Skalka (both red and blue tourist trail). Then it is within striking distance. The resort is reachable via other tourist trails. However, we listed the closest ones.

The history of the resort dates back to the mid-20th century. Then, a hotel was constructed here as well as the construction works of a cabin cable car would begin. The cable car stretched between Hrabovo borrough and Malinô Brdo. It was then when vibrant tourism began. In 1996, the resort received a significant renovation. Several years later, the cable car was renewed as well. After this Malinô Brdo became one of the best resorts in Slovakia.

The best thing you can do here is to ski. The resort offers many ski slopes with  the total lenght of 12 kilometers. The longest slope starts at Malina and runs down to cable car's lower station. The length of the slope is 3 900 meters. There is a cable car with eight seats per cabin and a fourseated cable car. Moreover, there 2 ski tows, 4 ski tows for beginners and children. Also, there are canons with artificial snow. The resort is gets one of the longest artificial snow treatments in Slovakia. Cross-country skiers as well as ski alpinists will enjoy it here.

In summer, visitors can have fun on bike. Local bike park offers mountain bike riding, cart rides, and off-road scooters. It is no problem to rent any of these here.

 Also, you can hike around the resort all year round. For instance, you can go see Vlkolinec, a UNESCO sight. Also, you can visit Sidorovo hill including its amazing vistas, climb Vtacnik saddle, and get on the main tourist trail in the Velka Fatra mountain range.

Malinô Brdo is a place with many accommodation as well as dining facilities. During season, many interesting events take place here. Some of attractions situated close from here is an amazing rope park featuring 50-meter zipline, a water dam with grass beach. Both places are situated at the edge of Hrabovska valley. The same applies to Sidorovo Mini Farm and Majek cabin.

Malinô Brdo resort is a great place for families with children. You may enjoy here great skiing and biking in summer. Also, hiking here is very pleasant for nature here is amazing.
