The city of Trnava is located in the central part of Trnavian Highlands. From historical point of view, it is one of the most interesting cities in Slovakia. Lets join us in exploration of this city. Trnava is an ancient city. It has rich history. First notes date back to the year 1211. Its location predestined it to flourish. Within 200 kilometers there are three large European cities - Bratislava, Wien and Budapest. It is interesting that a first city in Slovakia that received privileges of a free royal city. In the Middle Ages, it was even among the largest Gothic cities of Central Europe. Its Christian history started in the 16th century, when there was set archbishopric of Esztergom and a chapter. Since that time, Trnava became the center of religious, social and cultural life of the then Hungary.
It golden age was in the 17th and 18th centuries. It happened mostly thanks to Trnava University, where graduated many local and foreign personalities like builders, architects, painters, sculptors, whose works of art and craft are still visible. You can make yourself sure if you take a walk to the city center. Clergy left significant traces on city's appearance. "Renaissance" literally brought building boom to Trnava.
Today we regard it as sacred and secular architectural gems. Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Classicism architecture is visible everywhere. The silhouette of Trnava got its beautiful tower relief which gave birth to its nickname Little Rome

Current Trnava is a regional, economic, cultural and political center of the Western Slovakia. It is the seat of many universities, social life and major multinational companies. During the year, the town lives on football, concerts and national festivals. Therefore you shouldn’t miss it.pompous churches in the historic center of the city. In the southwestern part of Slovakia, approximately 50 km from Bratislava, lies the town of Galanta. Although it is a small town in terms of its area, it offers visitors a lot of interesting things in terms of monuments and history.
Pavlice is one of the picturesque villages in the Danubian Lowland. They stretch on the eastern edge of the Trnava Uplands, surrounded by meadows, woods and fields intersected by the Gidra Stream. Over 500 inhabitants enjoy rural life with all the joys and sorrows. Today we will visit this village and we ourselves are curious what it will offer us.
This time we will go approximately 45 km northeast of Bratislava to the medium-sized village of Pusté Úľany. The village in the Trnava region offers to see several interesting historical monuments.
Each village has something special, interesting and pleasing to the eye in its territory. All you have to do is walk through the streets and you will be convinced that this is no different in Križovany nad Dudváhom, which is mainly represented by painted statues. So let's go for a walk through this beautiful village.
The village of Brestovany lies in the northwestern part of the Danube Plain, only 10 km from the district town of Trnava at an altitude of 140 to 150 meters. The cadastral area consists of parts of Velká Brestovany, Malá Brestovany and Horní Lovčice.
The village of Dolné Lovčice, located 6 km from the regional town of Trnava, attracts lovers of wandering through villages and towns with a peaceful atmosphere, several sacral monuments and attractions.
The village of Zavar is located 8 km from Trnava, on the eastern edge of the Trnava loess board. The first written mention dates from 1255. In the village there are many sacred monuments and interesting objects from history. The most attractive ones certainly include the Classicist chateau, the new church dedicated to the Nativity of the Virgin Mary from 1907 and the birth house of the composer Gejza Dusík.
Slovakia is a country that is characterized not only by beautiful nature, but also by a number of sacred monuments. It is a pity that they are overlooked by the number of tourists who come here. Therefore, I decided that at least in this form I will acquaint visitors to the villages of Boleráz and Klčovany with these monuments, their significance and the reason for the settlement.

Today we will set out together to explore the Slovak trinity pillars. Our first stop will be Bratislava, which has experienced many plague epidemics.
South of Trnava (13 km) by the Gidra stream lies the village of Voderady. In the past, it belonged to the Bratislava county, but for the time being it is part of the Trnava region.
The village of Košolná lies on the right bank of the fertile floodplain of the Parná river, approximately 12 km northwest of the district town of Trnava. The cadastral area with an area of 959 hectares in the north borders Boleráz, in the east and south with Suchá nad Parnou and in the west with the cadastre of Dlhá and Dolní Orešany.
In the central part of western Slovakia, between three important cities, namely Trnava, Hlohovec and Piešťany, lies the village of Madunice. Thanks to the immediate vicinity of the Váh River, the surroundings of the village offer breathtaking natural scenery, as well as opportunities for active recreation in the form of fishing or hunting.
In the western part of the Nitra Uplands is the village of Velké Ripňany (Topolčany District) together with the local part of Behynec, which was an independent municipality until 1976. Take a walk with us through this village with more than two thousand inhabitants ..
In the western part of the Danubian Lowland is the village of Vištuk, which borders the cadastre of Budmeríc, Modry, Šenkvíc, Báhoňa and the village of Jablonec. Vištuk used to belong to the Bratislava County and the Modra District, but since 1948 it has been included under the Pezinok District and the Bratislava Region.
After last week's visit to Bohdanoviec nad Trnavou, we will cross the bridge to the neighboring village of Šelpice. They are only 6 km northwest of the regional city of Trnava. They became famous mainly due to embroidery, viticulture and theater activities of local amateurs.
Less than 8 such from Trnava, in the central part of the Trnava Uplands, lies the village of Bohdanovce nad Trnavou. This medium-sized village is immediately adjacent to the villages of Šelpice and nearby to the villages of Boleráz, Dolná Krupá or Špačince.
The village of Šúrovce is located on the fertile Danubian lowland between Váh and Dudváh near the town of Sereď. The village with more than 2,300 inhabitants is only 12 km away from the district town of Trnava. The village was created by merging the original villages of Veľké Šúrovce, Valtov Šúr, Varov Šúr and Zemianske Šúrovce.
Approximately 15 km from the regional town of Trnava in the beautiful valley of the Blava stream lies the village of Radošovce. Its nearby neighbors are the spa town of Piešťany, Hlohovec Castle or the famous Leopoldov Prison. Today we set out to get to know this unusual village, which was administratively established not so long ago (January 1, 1991), by separating from Jaslovské Bohunice.
The ruin of Ostry Kamen castle stood once as a guardian of the so called Bohemian Road. The ruin is near Bukova, Trnava country. Its history isn’t as deep and as rich as in case of other castles nevertheless it is a popular place for tourists to see. And we went there as well.
Beautiful Adamovska lakes belong to the Gbely town disctrict. The lakes are popular mostly among people that want to recreate and people who own cottages. Also several thousand water birds made this place their oasis. A visitor can observe them from nearby observation post.
Last week we learned about the Trnava region from a height, we invited you to nature and visited a medieval ruin. Today we are going for a walk through exceptional cities.
After visiting Trnava last week, today we will set out to explore the surroundings of the picturesque region. We will visit natural places in the form of protected areas, reservations and areas, medieval gems and we will not miss the views from above of this beautiful part of Slovakia.
The Trnava region is located in the western part of the Slovak Republic. The area is the second smallest, but it offers more than enough tourist attractions. Lovers of history can take a tour of Trnava, for those who like spa, we recommend a visit to Piešťany, Velký Meder or Galanta, for gourmets and lovers of specific architecture Skalice and for pilgrims is definitely a picturesque stop Šaštín-Stráže.
One week later, we return again to the Trnava region, more precisely to the surroundings of Skalice. We will visit the popular tourist boat route, we will also go to the unique car racetrack and end the walk through this region on the wine (cycle) road.

Last week we made a tour from Dechtice to the church and monastery of St Catherine. This nice stroll inspired us to make another trip – this time to Dobra Voda town, couple of kilometers away. The town boasts with a beautiful ruin of a castle and Jan Holly.
