We start our month long trip across Indonesia in its capital city of Jakarta (Java island). We did our best to leave it as soon as possible. Our first stop was on Muria peninsula, central Java (it runs into the Java Sea in the north).
Late Gothic castle was founded by the lords of Osek. In the end of the 18th century, a Baroque chateau was built right next to it. It is the main reason why tourists even visit the city of the same name. Moreover, the Reliquary of St Maurus has been on display here since 2002.
After several weeks on the road we were about to return to Beijing. What a strange feeling it was. B and I felt like we were coming back home even though we lived there only half a year. We took a train from Lijiang 丽江 Kunming 昆明, the capital of Yunnan province 云南. We stayed there for couple of days. Eventually we were even glad we managed to buy flight tickets because it was a last minute buy as we had been waiting for them to become cheaper.
After the tour de Wine Valley which we visited last time, today we take a look at other activities one can do while in Tasmania.
Everybody who loves skiing the region of Schladming-Dachstein is the thing. Situated in the heart of Austria (Styria) the region has many events to offer as well as perfect downslopes as well as cross country tracks. But this is hardly everything!
Today we once again visit Turcianska Garden surrounded by monumental Mala and Velka Fatra. We also visit Strane, a neighborhood in Martin city. At the terminus of a public transport line there is a beautiful protected climbing road.
We set off early in the morning with a long way ahead of us. We are looking forward to a lake cruise. In 1873 the first steam boat Emperor Franz Joseph I had set sails on the lake and cruises have been made there ever since. The steam boat was a technical marvel the then. It is 33 meters long and also was used as a propriety in couple of movies because it allegedly looks romantic. You can also take a ride by this boat as it is still part of the fleet.
We stepped out of the silent temple in one of Lijiang’s streets and found ourselves immediately among tourist crowds mostly consisting of Chinese. They threw themselves on all delicacies around – from sugar hawthorn to huge baked bones.
Today we leave Bruny Island for another destination on the island of inspiration, another nickname for Tasmania. We are going to Launceston.
Winter is coming. It means that possibilities for skiing and trips in nature open once again. Join us to take a short trip to Murtal, a paradise for holidaymakers in Styria. Here we would like to present you some of the new things in the region.
Lijiang 丽江, a small town in Yunnan 云南 province is known as a land of clear sky, clean air, and beautiful landscape. Lijiang truly meets this. And it has even something more to it. It is a tourist paradise. When you pay 80 yuan admission to enter the city center only annoying vendors prevent you from exploring the area.
We left Hobart for Port Arthur, a small town, and then got on the Huon trail. Today we continue in this journey.
More than 50 ski tows, 120 kilometers of downslopes at 18 ski resorts which are perfectly maintained. You can find the resorts between Semmering, the Hochschwab Mountains, Eisenerz Alps in Hoch Steiermark region.
Only five kilometers from the district capital of Blansko there is Rajec-Jestrebi, a town of 3.5 thousand by the Svitava River. This town is the northern gateway to the Moravian Karst however also a town where a beautiful chateau is located.
When you say Chiang Mai people mostly think of Chinese lanterns, hundreds of them flying towards the full moon. I spend the better part of winter in this north Thai town. When I planned my journey there I didn’t hope for making it to see the festival. Eventually I made it. And it was the best experience of my life.
Lately I have travelled more and I have seen interesting laces. It is popular today to have a wellness vacation or visit some thermal spa so once I was given the opportunity to visit such a spa there was little to no hesitation.
Surprisingly we survived the journey from the Leaping Tiger Gorge to Lijiang 丽江. We were in the town for the second time and nobody was looking forward to it. We got enough of it when we were there couple of days ago. Thanks to my ingenuity we were accommodated next to Lashihai 拉市海. But it was far from spectacular. Partially, the reason was in the fact we hadn’t even seen the historical center of Lijiang. The reason, on the other hand, for tourists to come in the city.
Today we leave Hobart and see the surroundings of the Tasmanian capital.
Cerna Hora, a town of about 2000 (20 kilometers from Brno at the edge of Boskovicka Brazda) is situated in the Blansko district. Surrounded with beautiful forests, the town is famous for its brewery. We take a look at other places you shouldn’t miss as well.
The day of our departure from the mountain paradise had come. Luckily, we had whole afternoon at our hands. Therefore, we set off for the last trip. We intended to explore only the nearby area.
Last week we visited Tasmania’s capital for the first time. Today we continue in our trip in the world’s other end.
The autumn is in its full swing. The weather is beautiful which inspired us to visit Lower Austria, a destination which encourages you to uncover its interesting history. There are some world’s most unique historical sights, Schloss Hof included, we will take a look at it in the following lines
The region of Povazi offers many sights, natural as well as man-made. Today we visit one of the latter – Beckov castle is the most attractive sight in Beckov village which is near Nove Mesto nad Vahom.
Our small trip to waterfall became a nightmare. Ponies that stood across narrow pathway and deep precipice under seemed harmless. Once I got across these obstacles my landlord appeared. With great enthusiasm he instructed us to other waterfalls. As there was only one road heading to our hostel I had to mentally prepare myself to another and another waterfall.
Welcome to the new series of articles. This time we move to distant lands as we like to say to the antipodes. Our destination is the island of Tasmania which is located near Australia’s southeastern coast.
