What you think of when somebody says “America”? Perhaps it won’t be Yellowstone National Park nor Hollywood. Even though both places are great. You rather think of the Statue of Liberty or Central Park. The true symbol of the US is New York, the “capital of the world” as it is often referred to.

Beijing, the city of our year-long study stay, did not greet the girls pleasantly. Yet despite all obstacles we faced, we didn’t let it to spoil our mood. I visited the Catalonian capital with my family for a week in the time of Christmas holidays. I like to learn about culture of the country I spend my time in so I spent lot of time wandering in the streets, in parks or had breakfast in back-alley cafes with locals. I enjoyed hours-long dinners having great tapas and even better wine. I tried to met as new people as possible. True, only disadvantage was that I didn’t speak Spanish or Catalonian.

Mere 4 km west from Domazlice, there is the birth place of farmer Jan Sladky known as Kozina who fought for the rights of the Chods. He was also a character in A. Jirasek’s epic Psohlavci. In the town of Ujezd, you can see Kozina’s birth house, his memorial on Hradek Hill, and a nature trail with 15 stops.
Even though we tried, we didn’t manage to get nice weather. Smog, that impervious pot lid, held tiring heat above Beijing. But we were determined to prevail.
India is so interesting to us that we had to simply stay there for a while more. We will visit the state of Karnataka today which is to be found in southwest Inda.
There are many beautiful places in eastern Slovakia, we visit one of them today. We stop in the town of Smolnik, Gelnica District. It has rich mining history, unusual architectonic sights, and it is surrounded with beautiful nature ideal to have a nice hike.
