Austria, Hoch Steiermark – Secret Tips for Those Who Love Snow
Only a three-hours ride from Bratislava will get you to the winter paradise the name of which is Hoch Steiermark. In the area you will have fun, do some sports and relax in nature. Great regional cuisine and local Christmas markets will make your experience there even better and long to remember..
O Austrian ski resorts are known for their top-notch services and perfect downslopes. Therefore, we are not going to recommend you just one resort. Instead we focus on what’s new this year or what interesting events are going to take place around.
First we have to recommend you some ski resorts that would combine great skiing with great food. For instance, at Stuhleck you can feast your taste buds in W11, a restaurant with panorama view, and famous chef Yves Weisang at the helm. There is never enough of good things and experiences. Therefore, you should see Max the Cottager Owner at Schwaigerhütte, or Joseph the Cottager at Friedrichshütte. The three addresses of first-class cuisine are located right adjacent to a downslope. At Niederalpl, a ski resort great for families and snowboarders, Hansi Hütte, quite an interesting family cottage, is the place for lovers of winter sports. A similar place is to be found at Brunnalm-Hohe Veitsch resort which will feed you with great food, satisfy you with great skiing and, moreover, you can relax at the Veitshc water park.
Should you love Christmas there are 50 Advent markets in the towns like Mariazell, Leoben, Turnau, or Trofaiach. Holidaymakers will surely enjoy the so called Advent treks taking place on every weekend of the Advent. The tour which is going to take place on December 5 and 6 honors mining traditions by celebrating St Barbara, mining Advent, and a guided evening tour in Eisenerz, the town of nativity scenes. A tour which is going to take place during the second weekend in December (12 and 13th) is planned to take participants to Leoben, the home of baby Jesus, and then to the Magic of Christmas festival in Stockschlosse in Trofaiach. You can also take part in a tour to Kindberg. There, Styrian Advent chorals will be heard. The last event will take you to beautiful Christmas markets – beginning in Bruck, then in Kapfenberg, to Mürzzuschlag.
Apart from the downslopes and great treks, Hoch Steiermark offers many cross-country tracks, sledge tracks, or you can play some curling. Also, you should forget to pay a visit to some historical landmarks, and shopping in the city, a popular activity of our time.
For we cannot name it all we can offer you at least a overview of events during Advent, ski resorts, and other attractions HERE. We hope you will share with us your experience.
