SK, Spas – Slovakia, The Land of Living Water

As Slovakia is a country where there is living water, no library should be missing a new engaging book from the family publishing house Dajama:Lázně - Slovakia, The Land of Living Water, which offers a unique view of the natural wealth in the form of mineral healing waters.
Once upon a time, when people weren't wearing veils, which is not so long ago, you could go to a spa in Slovakia, enjoy a few pleasant days and try out what a health holiday is. And in case you had an accident or an unpleasant illness, you could visit the spa as a patient and get extra treatment. However, the coronavirus has greatly limited all Slovak spas, especially in terms of attendance, and that is why we will look at them at least virtually.
Slovakia is one of the best places in Europe with its spa health care. They have at their disposal natural resources in the form of healing waters and a built-in medical infrastructure that enables their use. The publication is not just a purely tourist guide or a purely medical overview. It looks at the spa as well as a place where the rulers of Europe met, visited by important artists, Nobel Prize winners or athletes.
The mentioned cultural-historical overview of Slovak spas was prepared by Martin Kasarda, who also consulted his texts with the Association of Slovak Spas.
The book itself presents the history of spas and health care as a social phenomenon. Once the spa was a place of natural healing, later several spas became the center of a "better society", modernized into a planned health care system to transform into today's places combining modern wellness tourism with targeted spa care.
The book also accompanies us through individual spas as defined by Slovak legislation, ie not swimming pools with hot water, but really medical and tourist centers from Bardějovské lázně to Smrdáky.
The result is an up-to-date overview of the Slovak spa environment, which will undoubtedly reopen to people seeking not only rest but also health after the end of the pandemic. You can find a new publication in every good bookstore, e-shop, but you can also win it if you write us at least 3 names of Slovak spas at info@infoglobe.sk. We will draw the winner's name on October 1, 2020 and publish it on our social networks.
