Switzerland: Climb Up to Brunni and a Tour in Gruyéres
We set off from the car park in Engelberg. We went down the road going under the cable car to our first point of interest - Ristis at 1601 meters. Immediately we were surrounded by the nature and soon we enjoyed the vista of the Alps (take your camera with you). The first section of trail goes through forest first but we were passing a meadow with idling cows soon. We had to even go around some lying on our trail several times.
The first large break – Ristis – is an ideal place to make a trip with kids. There is a bobsledge ride and many interactive monkey bars made of woods. Kids will surely have their time there. What interested us was the possibility to pump water to water gutter. These overbalanced when the water streamed through which made beautiful thing to watch. However, it was time to move on. We walked down the road of similar sort. There were more and more cows on our way and we the vista of the mountains, some of which were covered in snow, was getting better. Brunnihütte was at our fingertips. There was finally great food waiting for us.
Brunnihütte hut has a greatly placed terrace. There you can drink a cold Swiss beer while enjoyng the beautiful vista. Yet the best experience waits behidn the hut where you can find a small mountain lake lined by sidewalk of different surfaces - bark, stones, water, mud etc. It is great thing for your feet and great relax for your body. Tranquility, sun, fairy-tale like landscape... there is nothing one could like more.
It was about hundred times faster to go downhill (at least for me). Therefore, we decided to pay a visit to the town of Gruyéres. It is more than two hours away from Brunni. Should you have more time choose Lucerne instead. It is much closer. To make our visit at the town bit more pleasant, we stopped by Nestlé chocolate factory which is close to the town. You can expect a high-end tour and chocolate tasting at the end (small advice - you start with ordinary chocolate, fancy chocolate is at the end). You can eat as much as you want. However, I recommend you to not be excessive about it. We were and then we felt quite sick on our stomach. I could eat only bread until the end of the day and I hadn't eaten anything of chocolate until we left Switzerland.
Středověké malebné městečko Gruyéres, is a sc
enic medieval town known for production of its own cheese. There is much more to do, though. Its small square is lined with historical houses where reside shops, cafes, and restaurants. There is a stone fountain in them iddle of the square. In the background, you can see the castle of Count of Gruyéres. Yet, this is hardly everything of all interesting things you can expect of this town. Those who love sci-fi will love it for there is HR Giger museum close to the square - he was also the creator of the Alien. And opposite to the museum, there is Museum Bar HR Giger. Its interior is truly stylish.
