USA, Ohio: Columbus – The City of Art

Published: 12.7.2019
You can do anything in Columbus, Ohio. You may even have a some hard time to even decide where to begin. To visit all the museums, various festivals and other places of interest for tourists you would definitely need more then just a day or two. But we will try to make your travel a little easier by choosing a few tips.

No matter how much time you spend here, you should take a walk around Scioto Mile. Just off this waterfront you can make the best panoramic photos of the city with its skyscrapers. As a better idea, the adventurous character will certainly be able to rent a canoe and paddle down the Scioto Mile.

Another tip, which we think is irresistible, is the autokino, which is located in the southern part of the city. His name is The South Drive-in Theater and is a perfect memory of the American 1950s, when a similar cinema was probably the most popular. A loudspeaker is attached to the car and attached to the window. Some people even bring a portable grill to watch a movie to do something good to eat during the screening.

Do you like flowers? If not, you can skip this paragraph. However, if you do we recommend that you sign up for the Park of Roses featuring more than 12,000 roses of all types and colors. The total park area is an impressive five hectares, making it the world's largest botanical park with roses owned by the city. It is run by volunteers and avoids fertilizer use when growing roses. Benches are scattered around the park to sit down, and in summer there are even concerts. And the best time to visit is summer - from mid-June to mid-September.

If you are not interested in the garden of roses, you can choose another of the 19 parks that are all around the city. It is a pleasant green oasis where you can breathe for a while from the hustle and bustle of the city. Each park is unique and you can go hiking, rock climbing or fishing. There are also daily events that can make the visit more varied.

Ohio State University

Columbus strongly supports local art scene, especially when visiting the local Museum of Art, which is at the heart of the city's cultural life. You can see classic works of European and American painting, sculpture, photography and other art from the 19th and 20th centuries. The museum stresses the works of local artists such as Aminah Robinson, George Bellows or Elijah Pierce.

So - are you packed?
