USA, Oregon – Lincoln City
What is quite unique about Lincoln City? On the beach you can find a real hidden treasure. The city is funding a program called Finders Keepers, something like treasure hunters. As part of this, over 3,000 glass spheres are hidden along the coast near Lincoln City each year. Anyone who finds a glass ball can naturally take it home as a souvenir, but it is an unwritten rule that everyone can only take one. And if you like nice glass, you can visit the Lincoln City Glass Center or Mor Art in the Taft Historic District. You can even make a glass decoration there to your liking.
Lincoln City offers over ten miles of beaches and there are more sand-related attractions than any other city along the Oregon coast. People can easily spend the whole day building sand castles, surfing or watching the surf..
Another place we would like to bring you closer to is Devil‘s Lake. In addition to the beautiful natural scenery, on this almost 300ha of lake you will enjoy various water pastimes, one of the most popular of which is kayaking.
Not to be missed are the Drift Creek Falls, located close to the Siuslaw National Forest. This area is easily accessible for families with children and is located just twenty miles from Lincoln City itself. A five-kilometer walk to the waterfalls and back awaits you. A slight elevation is also pleasant and the trail is well marked. The icing on the cake of the trip itself is the 70-meter-long suspension bridge, which rises 30 meters above the waterfalls themselves.
If you are thinking about where to go for a meal, then we must recommend the town of Wecoma, where you will find, for example, Blackfish Café or Thai Bay Restaurant, which are among the local favorites.
But we have one more tip for you. The approximately 40-minute drive will take you to the Yaquina Head Outstanding Natural Area, one of the most sought-after destinations on the Oregon coast. The entire trip will then be crowned by the Yaquina Head Lighthouse. The scene is cut from a postcard and we believe that you will not let your cameras lie idle.
