The island is popular mainly among people who enjoy relaxing on the beaches and like to spend time outdoors in nature. You will find about 20 kilometers of beautiful beaches. As a rule, they have free parking.

Coligny Beach Park is considered the best beach. In addition to the beach, you can enjoy shopping in one of the many shops - from luxury boutiques to souvenir shops. You will also find good restaurants and bistros here. We especially need to draw your attention to an excellent place called Sweet Carolina Cupcakes. As the name suggests, they specialize in various cupcakes here and it would be a sin to walk around and not take something with you. There are many pleasant seating areas by the beach, including gazebos with swings. You can also connect to all this on wifi. There are also live music performances during the season.

Probably one of the most iconic places on the island is definitely the Harbor Town Lighthouse, which can be found in the heart of Harbor Town on the southern edge of the island. The easily recognizable building with red plaster and white stripes also serves as a museum.

The lighthouse was built in the 70s of the 20th century. It rises to a height of almost 30 meters. Inside, as you hike to the higher floors of the building, many interesting exhibits await you, such as historical photographs and objects related to the history of this island, which people settled sometime 10,000 years ago. In addition, you will learn more about the Coast Guard and its role in guarding local waters. From the observation deck you will enjoy fantastic distant views. You will also see the neighboring island of Daufuskie Island and with good visibility also Tybee Island, which already lies in the neighboring state of Georgia.
