Skalka
This path leads around town´s pond in direction towards the forest. However, a few of original copse only remained here. Pine-tree groves prevail here. Within industrial revolution time period, i.e. 250 years ago, the change of forests begun. The pine trees are growing much faster, and these one sorted mono-cultures are better to be attended. On the other hand, they are ideal for multiplication of transgressors. So, it happened that in 1929, black arches caused great calamity inside the copse.
At present, there is again an effort, to grow mixed forests, as in past. The ore was mined in the environs of the community of Mníšek. Later, since 1746, the iron ore was excavated here. However, it consists 30% of iron only. Moreover, it contains a lot of quartz. This fact makes impossible the classical melting in blast-furnace. So, the working was too expensive, and the excavation had to be closed in 1966. Lower stages were inundated with a water. Now, this area serves as a water source for the town of Mníšek.
