RECOMMANDATIONS FOR TOURISTS
Rush traffic of border crossings with Croatia is quite heavy, especially in the course of summer tourist saison. You have to take in mind that in past easily passable Slovenia-Croatia borders are, since 1st May 2004, when this border became a frontier of European Union, more overcrowded, owing to the fact that the respective controls are effected in more detailed way. n connection with realization of Schengen systm project preparation, the customs and border police are directed to severest control of all vehicles, passing by. So, ithin tourist saison 2005, many vehicles of Czech tourists where confiscated, while travelling to and from Croatia. The police found, in all cases, that these vehicles were stolen. These were mostly the cars of VW and Audi brands, which were bought as second hand cars.
On smaller international border crossings, where it is possible, on return to Slovenia, to turn away for a line, directed for European Union citizens close to border crossing, it is necessary to calulate with vehicle queues, in the course of tourist saison and holidays.
As far as the safe situation of Slovenia is concerned, it is better as in neighbouring countries or in Czech Republic. Nevertheless, would you pay your attention at the coasts during summer months, regarding your travelling documents and money.
