Mountain village of Whistler is to be found in western Canada (BC). It is built to the middle of forest surrounded by high mountains. This place used to be possessed by other creatures – black bears. Righteously so they peak into the village. Simply put: Whistler is the land of bears.

Another great place of Jasper NP is about 29 km southwards off the town of Jasper. You will get there by following an ascending road going through dense forest. There are many turns and a parking lot at the end in 1762 m. There starts the Trail below Mount Edith Cavell.

When we asked at tourist information center, Whistler, where to hike in the area, the recommendations of the lady at the reception were same as the recommendations we got from our friends. They knew the area around Whistler very well. The weather got much better after two days. Therefore we decided for the most difficult trip in the area – to Wedgemount Lake located high in the mountains.

One of the roads in the Banff National Park where you wont meet more than several dozens of people are roads around Bow Lake. We arrived at lake at 7:00 and parked our car by Num-Ti-Jah Lodge (there is a parking lot with dry toilets). Mountains were mysterious, still in morning mist, and sun was hidden behind mountain peaks. Local atmosphere was silent, and really freezing – hat and gloves are necessary.
