Safety situation
Attention: many limitations for smokers are valid in the country. Smoking is not permitted in closed public spaces and in restaurants. Smoking is forbidden in means of transport, etc. Norway has a monopoly for production, import and distribution of alcohol drinks. The alcoholic drinks are charged with high taxes, so, they are quite expensive. The drinking of alcohol is not allowed in public. Most of tourist lodgings does not permit sale and alcohol drinking. Absolute majority of Norway inhabitants are able to speak English, moreover, in areas of tourists´ dominance, you can also speak German. In Norway, there is no problem to use international payment cards, the nest of banking MINIBANK is very dense, and nearly all shops or services accept payment cards. As far as the safety situation in the country is concerned, it is relatively favourable. Despite this fact, it would be recommandable to keep basic rules of general vigilance, i.e. pay standard attention for your luggage control, documents and money, which wold be hidden on several places.
