Join us for a visit to the largest tourist resort in Cyprus, offering more than three dozen beaches, incredibly clean sea, numerous hotels, bars, discos, shops, museums and a water park with an ancient Greek theme. It is Ayia Napa, a resort located in the Famagusta region on the south-east coast of the island in the Kokkinochoria area.

We will finish our tour of Cyprus with a visit to the popular tourist resort in the Famagusta region, which is translated as the holy wooded valley - Ayia Napa. It is situated on the southeast coast of the island in the Kokkinochoria area.

This time, I leave Famagusta for Salamina which is about 10 kilometers away. Salamina is what remained of an ancient city. I can see the ancient columns and buildings right upon going through the main gate. The sea borders the ruins on the left. I pass by beautiful fountain decorated with statues up to the agora. On the opposite site, there is a pool and next to it a luxurious spa decorated with mosaics and frescoes.

Famagusta or Gazimagusa was the name of Ammochostos meaning "buried in sand". Local terrein is flat yet fertile. Visible are green pipeline leading here water underwater from Turkey. Water is scarce on Cyprus.

I leave Nikosia, the capital, for Kyrenia (Girne). We are headed to the mountains. Then we cross the mountains, and take in the view of the sea and Cyprus' nrothern shoreline. Kyrenia, a pleasant town with beautiful harbor and castle, is situated below us.
