The city on the Elbe is known mainly from two perspectives - as a famous spa and a round tower typical of the local castle, which today is place for education. Even a short walk around the city, however, provide insight into the interesting nooks and feel the breath of history associated with the city, experience from which a man long kept in my heart. After all, they say - for the heart is Poděbrady town.

A community of Poděbrady was originally, before the foundation of Bohemian State, a locality named as "pode brody" ("along fords") - as nearby Elbe-ford was placed there.
King Přemysl Ottokar II. let constructed a castle during 1262-1268, later changed and modernized it to more comfortable seat.

The place, with each right Czech person does not connect with anything other than a car manufacturer Škoda. Winged arrow and hundreds of colourful cars that just rolled off the production line, they are no longer visible from the highway in the direction to Liberec.

Kynžvart Spa is located less than ten kilometres from Marienbad. With its more important neighbor, this city, which is without fountains, palatial houses and colonnades, is in complete contrast.
